Vargas awarded as Dominican Player of the Year
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 6,2018 – Veteran middle
blocker Annerys Vargas, who has been a mainstay in the Dominican
Republic team since 1998,was awarded on Wednesday at the Olympic
Gala sponsored by the Dominican Republic Olympic Committee.
Vargas received a trophy as the most outstanding Dominican
player in 2017.
Annerys was the best blocker at the NORCECA Group A Qualifier to
the 2018 FIVB World Championship and claimed the same honor at
the 2017 FIVB World Grand Prix.
The slender athlete helped Dominican Republic to win the silver
medal at the Pan American Cup in Cañete, Peru where she was
included as the first middle blocker in the All-Star Team.
Taking in consideration those achievements, the presidency and
the technical staff of the Female National Project of the
Dominican Federation decided to recommend Vargas who debuted as
a 17 year-old girl and continues to be a key piece in her
national team. |
