Volleyball Family mourns the death of Jan Rek

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, May 23, 2019 – The NORCECA Confederation joins the Europe’s volleyball family in mourning the death of Dr. Jan Rek who for many years was president of the European Refereeing Commission. He was 65.

José Ramón Pérez Vento, president of the NORCECA Refereeing Commission, remembered Dr. Rek as “a valuable referee, professor and friend who was an example of conduct and hard work for the constant improvement of refereeing around the world.”

Dr. Rek became an international referee back in 1983 and had a successful career before retiring and transferring his knowledge and experience to the next generation of Volleyball officials.

He was a member of the FIVB Refereeing Commission and attended many international volleyball events as Referee Delegate.

He will be missed.
