Welcoming of the NORCECA Beach Tour at opening ceremony in La Paz

 

LA PAZ, Mexico, June 7, 2019.- Representatives of Baja Calirfornia Sur Governor’s office, Sports’ Institute and Volleyball Association, accompanied Hilda Gaxiola, Beach Coordinator of the Mexican Volleyball Federation and Daymian Stewart, NORCECA competition director  for a warm welcoming of the fourth edition of La Paz Beach Tournament during the opening ceremony.

 

A parade of the twenty five teams taking part of the fifth leg of the NORCECA Beach Tour initiated the ceremony, followed by the solemn Mexican flag honors escorted by members of the Mexican Navy in Baja California Sur.

 

Professor Hector Jimenez Marquez, Secretary of Public Education was in charge of the welcoming speech, expressing the great satisfaction that the Sport Institute of Baja California Sur has on hosting the event for the fourth year in a row.

 

Daymian Stewart, on behalf of NORCECA President Cristobal Marte Hoffiz said “I like to thank the people and government of La Paz for hosting one of the best stops of the NORCECA Tour; this is a beautiful tournament, I am privileged to be here and I will ensure a successful finish”.

 

Former Olympic Beach Volleyball player, Hilda Gaxiola, gave greetings on behalf of the Mexican Federation President Jesus Perales Navarro and asked everyone to join in applauding to La Paz fans for their hospitality and exceptional behavior, “we feel at home in La Paz, your support is deeply appreciated”.

 

Gabriela Velazquez de Mendoza, wife of Baja California Sur Governor Carlos Mendoza Davis and on his behalf, was in charge of inaugurating the tournament with joyful words enjoyed by everyone at the Malecon Beach of La Paz.

 

Also taking part of the opening ceremony was the Director of Sports in La Paz Guillermo Ortalejo Hernandez, Ruben Muñoz Alvarez representative of the La Paz City Hall, Jose Avila Geraldo General Director of Baja California Sur Sports Institute and Nubia Estella Barranza Anaya, president of the Baja California Sur Volleyball Association.
