Wilmarie Rivera wins Rookie and Setter of the Year honors
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, April 25, 2019 – Wilmarie Rivera capped a
successful year of debut in the Puerto Rican Volleyball Female
Superior League taking home the awards as Rookie of Year and
Setter of the Year.
Rivera made her debut with the Amazonas of Trujillo Alto after
two successful years playing at college level in the United
States and having her first experience with the Senior National
Team in January 2019.
In the elections for the Rookie of the Year honors, Rivera
received 28 first-place votes and totaled 147 points. She
received also two second-place votes and one third-place.
Rivera dominated the elections among the setters with 136 points
and 24 first-place votes.
Rivera became the second rookie to win the two awards joining
Mariana Thon who won both elections in 2011 with Vaqueras de
Bayamon. |
