Cuba won the gold medal in El Salvador

 

SAN SALVADOR, July 5, 2008.- Cuba defeated Canada 3-1 and won the gold medal of the U-21 Norceca Men’s Continental Championship held at the Sports Palace in this city.

 

The sets finished 25-18, 20-25, 25-21, 29-27, with reserve outside hitter Armando Danger, who had not play in any previous matches, finishing the night with 20 points. More Spanish


USA beat Mexico and took the bronze

 

SAN SALVADOR, July 5, 2008.- USA beat Mexico in consecutive sets (25-15, 25-23, 25-18) and won the bronze medal at the U-21 Norceca Men’s Continental Championship which finishes today.

Puerto Ricans downed Dominicans for fifth place

 

SAN SALVADOR, July 5, 2008.- Puerto Rico easily downed Dominican Republic in straight sets and grabbed the fifth place at the U-21 Norceca Men’s Continental Championship which concludes here today.

 

The Puerto Ricans took control of the match from te start and won it by score of 25-18, 25-20, 25-17 and avenge the loss to the Dominicans in the first day of the competition which practically cost them the clasification.

Guatemala finished in seventh place 

 

SAN SALVADOR, July 5, 2008.- Guatemala defeated El Salvador and finished in the seventh position of the U-21 Norceca Men’s Continental Championship which closes today.

 

Andy Leonardo with his 19 points led the attack in the 25-18, 25-10, 26-24 victory, with a well battled third set that in a moment seemed like the first won by the Salvadorians in the tournament.

Canada defeated Mexico and will play for the gold

 

SAN SALVADOR, July 4, 2008.- Canada defeated Mexico 3-0 obtaining the right to dispute the gold medal of the U-21 Men’s Continental Championship being held at the Sports Palace here.

SAN SALVADOR, July 4, 2008.- Dominican Republic defeated El Salvador 3-0 and will play for the fifth position in the U-21 Norceca Men’s Continental Championship.

Americans completed marathonic effort

 

SAN SALVADOR, July 3, 2008.- USA completed the four semi finalists by defeating Guatemala in straight sets 25-22, 25-12, 25-23 in the quarterfinals phase of the U-21 Norceca Men’s Continental Championship.

Mexico entered in the semi finals

 

SAN SALVADOR, July 3, 2008.- Mexico advanced to the semi finals with a 3-0 victory over Dominican Republic in a quarterfinal match of the U-21 Norceca Men’s Volleyball Championship.

 

Three Mexican players combined to score in double figures in leading the triumph by score of 25-21, 25-15, 25-20.

Cuba sent El Salvador to consolation match

 

SAN SALVADOR, July 3, 2008.- Cuba advanced to the semi final round with a confortable 3-0 victory over host El Salvador in the U-21 Men’s Volleyball Continental Championship.

 

The sets finished 25-12, 25-10, 25-9 in a match that lasted less than one tour and where Cuban Fernando Hernandez was the only in double figures with 10 tallies. USA eliminated Puerto Rico

 

SAN SALVADOR, July 3, 2008.- USA advanced to the quarterfinals and eliminated Puerto Rico by winning in four sets the final match of Pool A in the Preliminary Round of the U-21 Norceca Men’s Continental Championship.

Mexico was stretched to the limit by Guatemala

 

SAN SALVADOR, July 2, 2008.- Mexico had to battle to defeat Guatemala 3-2 and qualify in Pool B of fhe U-21 Norceca Men’s Continental Championship. The sets finished 25-27, 25-23, 25-16, 23-25, 15-5.

 

“I have to give credit to Guatemala who placed very well different than us who had a disastrous game,” said Jorge Azair, the Mexican coach.

Canadians crushed Dominican Republic

 

SAN SALVADOR, julio 2, 2008.- Canada crushed Dominican Republic 3-0 to finís with an unbeaten record the preliminary round of Pool A in the U-21 Norceca Men’s Volleyball Championship. The sets ended 25-20, 25-10, 25-21.

With their three victories, the Canadians advanced to the semi final round and left the Dominicans with a 1-2 record waiting for the outcome of the match between Puerto Rico and USA to define the other two qualified teams.

Mexico defeat El Salvador in straight sets

 

SAN SALVADOR, July 1, 2008.- Mexico defeated El Salvador 3-0 for their first victory in Pool B of the NORCECA U-21 Men’s Volleyball Championship where three spots are available for the 2009 World Championship of the age-category.

 

The sets finished 25-20, 25-18 y 25-11 and the home team showed a better level of game than the night before when they lost to Guatemala.

 

Mexico equalled its record at 1-1 with one more match to play against Guatemala.

USA beat Dominican Republic 3-0

 

SAN SALVADOR, July 1, 2008.- USA got its first triumph in Pool A by defeating Dominican Republic by score of 25-15, 25-20, 25-20 at the U-21 NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship.

 

Both teams have now identical win-loss record at 1-1, while Canada tops the pool with 0-2 and Puerto Rico is winless in two outings.

Cuba cruised to a victory over Guatemala

 

SAN SALVADOR, July 1, 2008.- Cuba cruised toward a straight sets victory over Canada by score of 25-8, 25-15, 25-14 in Pool B of the U-21 NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship.

SAN SALVADOR, June 30, 2008.- Canada downed USA 3-0 by score of 27-25, 25-15, 25-21 in match of Pool A in the nightcap the opening day at the U-21 NORCECA Men’s Junior Championship.

SAN SALVADOR, June 30, 2008.- The team of Guatemala defeated El Salvador 3-0 in the third match of the opening day of the Junior Men’s NORCECA Volleyball Championship.

 

The sets finisged 27-25, 25-18, 25-19 with Andy Leonardo leading the offense with 15 points. Nery Flores had 13 tallies and Aldo Arias added 11.

SAN SALVADOR, June 30, 2008.- The Cuban side had an easy ride winning 3-0 over Mexico in the first match of Pool B of the U-21 NORCECA Men’s Volleyball Championship being held at the Sports Palace of San Salvador.

 

The sets finished 25-16, 25-19 y 25-12 with Fernando Hernández as the best scorer of the winners with 16 tallies. Rolando Cepeda seconded him with 13 points.

Dominicans came back against Puerto Rico

 

SAN SALVADOR, June 30, 2008.- Dominican Republic recovered from a 0-2 and made a spectacular comeback to defeat Puerto Rico 3-2 (18-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-21, 15-13) in the opening match of the U-21 NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship.

 

The Dominicanas relied on the left hand of Pedro Luis Garcia who scored 31 points, 29 via spikes. Hayden Reynoso scored 15 and Johan Lopez had 12 to complete the players in double figures.  More Español
