Jade Race and Devanne Sours of USA Take Gold Medal in El Salvador
SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, November 10, 2024.-
Jade Race and Devanne Sours of the United States won the gold medal at
the eighth stop of the 2024 NORCECA Tour after Canada's Dana Roskic and
Anna Licht were forced to withdraw due to injury during the final match
at the Flor Blanca Beach Sports Stadium in El Salvador.
This is Devanne Sours' second consecutive gold medal, having won gold in
Bonaire with Carly Kan. Jade Race claimed her third consecutive medal on
the 2024 NORCECA Tour, with previous bronze medals in Puerto Cortés and
Bonaire.
In pool-play, Race and Sours defeated Roskic and Licht.
With heavy hearts, both Jade and Devanne spoke about winning the gold
medal.
Jade said, “Unfortunately it’s not so exciting winning the gold medal
like that”. She spoke about the game adding “We had a very tough match
against this team in pool-play and we were able to beat them; today they
brought another look at the gold medal, winning the first set. I think
we could have gone to three and it would have been anyone’s game”.

Canadian Arran Chambers Repeats Gold in El Salvador, Now with Jake
MacNeil
SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, November 10, 2024.-
Canadian Arran Chambers repeated his gold medal performance on the
NORCECA Tour here in El Salvador, this time teaming up with Jake MacNeil
to defeat the U.S. duo of Diego Perez and Ryan Ierna 2-0 (21-13, 21-13)
at the eighth stop of the 2024 season, held from November 8 to 10 at the
Flor Blanca Beach Sports Stadium. Arran Chambers claimed his second
NORCECA Tour gold medal, his first was also here in El Salvador last
year alongside Liam Kopp. Just a week ago, Chambers and MacNeil took the
silver medal in Bonaire. Arran said, “El Salvador is my house”. He added
“This is a special place for me, the tournament was organized
beautifully, and it’s been such a pleasure to be here once again”. About
the gold medal match he commented “We came out really hard, we trusted
each other, and we just didn’t let our foot off the gas, we prepared
really hard for this, played really focused and it showed”.

Nicaragua, USA, and Two Canadian Teams Advance to Semifinals in El
Salvador
SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, November 9, 2024.-
Mora/López of Nicaragua, Perez/Ierna of the United States, and both
Canadian teams have advanced to the men’s semifinals at the eighth stop
of the NORCECA Tour, taking place at the Flor Blanca Beach Sports
Stadium in El Salvador. The semifinals will be held on Saturday at 9:15
a.m., with Rubén Mora and Dany López of Nicaragua facing Diego Perez and
Ryan Ierna of the United States, while the Canadian teams of Martin
Licht/Luke De Greeff and Jake MacNeil/Arran Chambers will battle face
off. Rubén Mora and Dany López earned their semifinal spot with a solid
2-0 (21-18, 21-8) victory over Daniel Dyner and Julian Araya of Costa
Rica.

Two Duos from Canada, Nicaragua, and USA
in Women’s Semifinals in El Salvador

2024.-
The two Canadian duos, López/Valeska from
Nicaragua, and Race/Sours from the United States are set for the women’s
semifinals at the eighth stop of the 2024 NORCECA Tour in El Salvador.
In Saturday’s semifinals, the two Canadian duos will face off: Dana
Roskic and Anna Licht vs. Amy Ozee and Kaylee Glagau, while Socorro
López and Valeska Hernández from Nicaragua will go up against Jade Race
and Devanne Sours from the United States. Both matches are scheduled for
10:00 a.m. Canada’s Dana Roskic and Anna Licht advanced to the
semifinals with a comfortable 2-0 (21-10, 21-13) quarterfinal victory
over Jessica McGuire and Ella Gray of the United States. The other
Canadian team, Amy Ozee and Kaylee Glagau, also won firmly over Paola
Alvarado and Danna Aguilar of Guatemala, 2-0 (21-16, 21-9).

Six Women Tandems Off to a Good Start at the NORCECA Tour in El Salvador

The two U.S. teams, U.S. Virgin Islands, Ozee/Glagau of Canada,
López/Valeska of Nicaragua and Alvarado/Aguilar of Guatemala, off to a
good start at the eighth stage of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour at
the Beach Sports Stadium at the Flor Blanca Sports Complex in El
Salvador. In Pool A, Jessica McGuire and Ella Gray of USA kicked off the
day with a 2-0 (21-12, 21-11) victory over Kristina Lumsde and Petal
Smith of Jamaica and then they went on to beat Daniela Vigil and Karla
Tovar de El Salvador 2-0 (21-16, 21-15), securing to move into the next
round. The other U.S. team, Jade Race/Devanne Sours, outplayed Canadians
Dana Roskic and Anna Licht 2-0 (23-21, 21-19) who earlier earned a
strong win 2-0 (21-12, 21-12) against Aliza Aguilar and Crystell Arce of
Costa Rica in their first match in pool B.

Seven Undefeated Men Teams at NORCECA Beach in El Salvador
SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, November 8, 2024.-
Both teams from Canada and the United States, the Guardado brothers from
El Salvador, Mora/López from Nicaragua, and Costa Rica remain undefeated
on the first day, advancing to the men’s quarterfinals of the eighth
stop of the NORCECA Tour at the Beach Sports Stadium in the Flor Blanca
Sports Complex in El Salvador. El Salvador’s Yoel and Christopher
Guardado triumphed over Nicaragua’s Axel Gutiérrez and Jesy Umaña 2-0
(21-15, 22-20) and also defeated Irvin Reyes and Manuel Serrano of
Honduras 2-0 (21-15, 21-14). Costa Rica’s Daniel Dyner and Julian Araya
had to give their all to come back and secure a hard-fought victory
against Reyes/Serrano of Honduras, winning 2-1 (24-26, 21-16, 20-18) in
their first appearance. The Costa Rican duo then defeated
Gutiérrez/López 2-0 (21-17, 21-19).

El Salvador Hosts the NORCECA Tour for second year in a row
SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, November 7, 2024.-
The Beach Sports Stadium at the Flor Blanca Sports Complex will host the
NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour for the second year in a row, with the
eighth stage of the 2024 season taking place from November 8 to 10.
Thirty teams are registered for the competition (16 men’s teams and 14
women’s teams). Among the men’s teams, Canada’s Arran Chambers, who won
the gold medal last year here in El Salvador, teams up with Jake
MacNeil, with whom he won the silver medal just a week ago in Bonaire
during the Tour’s seventh stop. Also representing Canada, Martin Licht
and Luke de Greef, who made their debut in the NORCECA Tour, winning the
bronze medal in Bonaire.
