Puerto Rico’s Libero Adrián Figueroa Named Most Valuable Player

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, November 23, 2025.– Puerto Rico´s libero Adrián Figueroa was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the second edition of the NORCECA U17 Boys’ Continental Championship after leading his team to its second consecutive title. He also earned the awards for Best Libero, Best Digger and Best Receiver. Figueroa played a decisive role in Puerto Rico’s championship run thanks to his outstanding defensive performance, highlighted by memorable matches against Mexico in the semifinals and Cuba in the final. Mexico claimed three individual honors: Francisco Merino as Best Scorer and First Best Spiker, and Leonardo Cruz as Best Setter. For Cuba, Víctor Contreras was recognized as Second Best Spiker and Reinaldo Márquez as Best Server. More Español

Puerto Rico Crowned Back-to-Back NORCECA U17 Champions and Secures World Championship Berth 

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, November 23, 2025.– Puerto Rico captured back-to-back titles at the NORCECA U17 Boys’ Continental Championship and secured a berth to the FIVB 2026 World Championship after defeating Cuba 3-1 (25-23, 25-22, 18-25, 25-22) in the gold medal match. In a tightly contested final, Puerto Rico managed its resources efficiently and prevailed over a resilient Cuban team that fought hard in every set but fell short of its title aspirations. This is Puerto Rico’s second consecutive championship; two years ago in Mexico, they claimed the inaugural title after defeating the hosts in four sets. With 40 Points from Mbaitoloum, the United States Claims Bronze Against Mexico 

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, November 23, 2025.– With an impressive 40-point performance, Noah Mbaitoloum led the United States to the bronze medal with a 3-2 (25-22, 19-25, 25-18, 21-25, 18-16) victory over Mexico at the NORCECA U17 Boys’ Continental Championship. Mbaitoloum finished with 36 attack points, three blocks and one ace, the highest individual scoring output recorded in this category in the two editions of the tournament.Mexico struggled to stop the American attacker, who was unable to finish the semifinal match against Cuba due to an ankle injury, but returned on Sunday to carry his team to the podium. Nikodem Opiola and Jackson Real supported Mbaitoloum with 12 and 9 points, respectively. Costa Rica Edges Barbados in Five Sets to Claim Fifth Place 

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, November 23, 2025.– Costa Rica defeated Barbados 3-2 (25-17, 16-25, 25-27, 25-13, 15-13) to secure fifth place at the NORCECA U17 Boys’ Continental Championship. Both teams battled intensely to close the tournament in a better position. Barbados showed strength at the net with effective blocking, while Costa Rica focused on applying pressure from the service line to disrupt the opponent’s reception and limit their offensive rhythm. After Costa Rica dominated the fourth set, the tie-break came down to the finer details. With the score tied at 13-13, two consecutive errors from Barbados, one on the block and another on attack, opened the door for Costa Rica to seal the victory.  More Español

Nicaragua Defeats Dominican Republic in Five Sets to Finish Seventh 

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, November 23, 2025.– Nicaragua earned a 3-2 victory (15-25, 25-19, 10-25, 25-21, 15-8) over the Dominican Republic to secure seventh place at the NORCECA U17 Boys’ Continental Championship. In a match full of momentum swings, Nicaragua came from behind twice, taking the second and fourth sets. In the decisive fifth, the hosts jumped to an early 5-1 lead and extended it to 10-4, a gap that proved impossible for the Dominicans. The Dominican Republic showed strong control in the first and third sets, particularly in the third, where they produced runs of up to six unanswered points. However, the tide shifted in the fourth set as Nicaragua improved its reception and took the lead from point 18 onward, a key stretch that made the difference. Puerto Rico Looks to Defend Its NORCECA U17 Title After Outlasting Mexico in a Dramatic Five-Set Battle

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, November 22, 2025.– Puerto Rico earned the chance to defend its crown after defeating Mexico 3-2 (16-25, 25-23, 25-21, 17-25, 15-12) in an exciting semifinal of the NORCECA Boys’ U17 Continental Championship, which awards a berth to the age-group FIVB World Championship.Mexico took the early lead, but Puerto Rico responded strongly to claim the next two sets. Although it seemed they would complete the comeback, the Mexicans made the necessary adjustments to comfortably win the fourth set and force a tiebreak. In the fifth set, Puerto Rico came from behind to secure the victory. Mexico led in attacking 61-59 and in blocking 6-5, while Puerto Rico held the edge in serving 7-3.  More Español

Cuba Defeats the United States in Four Sets and Advances to the NORCECA U17 Final 

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, November 22, 2025.– Cuba earned a hard-fought 3-1 victory (25-22, 27-25, 12-25, 25-20) over the United States to advance to the final of the NORCECA Boys’ U17 Continental Championship. The United States was more effective in attacking (46-41), blocking (13-8), and serving (10-6), largely due to their performance in the third set. However, Cuba capitalized on the Americans’ 34 unforced errors, especially from the service line (21 missed s rves). The Cubans committed 23 unforced errors. The U.S. led 22-19 in the second set, but Cuba combined strong blocking with solid defense to finish with effective attacks and take the set 27-25. Costa Rica Dominates Nicaragua in Straight Sets 

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, November 22, 2025.– Costa Rica defeated Nicaragua 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-8) and advanced to the fifth-place match of the NORCECA Boys’ U17 Continental Championship. In the first set, the Costa Ricans took an early lead (10-2) right from the start. In the second set, mirrored the first, with a dominant Costa Rica quickly taking a comfortable 10-1 advantage over the home team. In the third and final set, Costa Rica’s offense was far superior to Nicaragua, to the point that the Nicaraguan side did not reach double digits, with the set ending 25-8. Moisés Watson led Costa Rica’s victory with 15 points, supported by Kenneth Quirós with 12 and Ignacio Alpizar with 11. They will face Barbados, who earlier defeated the Dominican Republic. For Nicaragua, Dominic Quezada scored 6 points.  More Español

Barbados Defeats Dominican Republic and Advances to the Fifth-Place Match 

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, November 22, 2025.– Barbados swept the Dominican Republic 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-19) to advance to the fifth-place match of the NORCECA Boys’ U17 Continental Championship. Barbados relied on a solid offensive performance to overcome the Dominican Republic. Isaiah John led the attack with 16 points, including 14 kills and two aces. Liam Yearwood added 9 points, while for the Dominican Republic, Enmanuel Ledesma scored 11. Barbados held advantages in attacking (33-25), blocking (6-3), and serving (6-3), capitalizing on 30 opponent errors while committing 21 of their own.  More Español

Cuba Defeats Costa Rica in Five Sets and Advances to Semifinals

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, November 21, 2025.- Cuba won an exciting match 3-2 (25-18, 25-22, 23-25, 12-25, 15-10) over Costa Rica in the quarterfinals of the NORCECA U17 Boys’ Continental Championship, advancing to the semifinals where they will face the United States. After taking the first two sets with relative ease, it seemed Cuba was on its way to the semifinals without major complications. However, Costa Rica responded strongly, snatching the third set 25-23 and widely dominating the fourth set, capitalizing on Cuba’s nervousness. In the fifth set, Costa Rica jumped to a 2-0 lead, but after a timeout requested by the Cuban coaching staff, the team managed to settle down and regain control of the match. From that point on, Cuba dictated the pace of the decider thanks to their powerful attacks, sealing the victory. More Español

Mexico Advances to Semifinals After Defeating Barbados

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, November 21, 2025.- Mexico secured a spot in the semifinals with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-16) victory over Barbados in the quarterfinals of the NORCECA U17 Boys’ Continental Championship. The Mexican team managed to withstand Barbados’s pressure at the end of the first set thanks to their serving, which gave them a comfortable advantage to close out the set. Mexico’s top scorers were Axel Ortiz with 18 points and Francisco Romero with 14, while Barbados was led by Isaiah John with 10 points. Mexico prevailed in attacks 48-24 and in serves 10-1, while Barbados led in blocks 4-3. Puerto Rico Advances to Semifinals After Defeating Nicaragua
 

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, November 19, 2025.– Puerto Rico secured first place in Pool A and a spot in the semifinals after defeating Nicaragua 3-0 (25-17, 25-11, 25-12) at the NORCECA U17 Boys’ Continental Championship. The reigning champion, Puerto Rico, closed the pool phase with a perfect 3-0 record and now awaits its semifinal opponent, advancing alongside the United States, the undefeated leader of Pool B. Nicaragua finished fourth in Pool A and will play on Saturday against one of the losers from Friday’s quarterfinals: Mexico vs. Barbados at 4:00 p.m. and Costa Rica vs. Cuba at 6:00 p.m. The winners of those matches will move on to the semifinals. MANAGUA, Nicaragua, November 20, 2025.– Costa Rica came from behind to claim a 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-16, 25-19) victory over Barbados, earning their second win in Pool A of the NORCECA U17 Boys’ Continental Championship. Costa Rica (2-1) must now wait for the match between Puerto Rico and Nicaragua to determine whether they advance to the semifinals or play in the quarterfinals. Barbados falls to a 1-2 record and must wait to determine their final placement. Kenneth Quirós led Costa Rica with 16 points, Braulio Alvarado contributed 15, and Ignacio Alpízar added 13. For Barbados, Isaiah John scored 20 points and Piere Gill added 15. Costa Rica held advantages in attacking (52-41) and serving (8-6). MANAGUA, Nicaragua, November 20, 2025.– Mexico finished second in Pool B after defeating Cuba 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-20) in the last match of pool play at the NORCECA U17 Boys’ Continental Championship. Mexico ended with a 2-1 record in second place, while Cuba finished third at 1-2; both teams will play in the quarterfinal round. Mexico will face the third-place team from Pool A, and Cuba will meet the second-place finisher. The Dominican Republic placed fourth and will play for positions 5–8. In the second set, Mexico trailed by three points (20-23) before rallying to take the set, opening the door to securing the match as Cuba was unable to recover from the setback. More Español

United States Advances to Semifinals Undefeated After Beating Dominican Republic
 

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, November 20, 2025.– The United States defeated the Dominican Republic 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-18) and secured a semifinal berth as the undefeated first-place team in Pool B at the NORCECA U17 Boys’ Continental Championship. The U.S. service made a major difference, scoring 18 points on aces (18-2). They also led in attacking 37-18 and in blocking 6-2, committing 24 errors compared to their opponents’ 14. Gabriele Desidero was the top scorer with 15 points (including four aces). John Seal finished with 11 points, five of them aces, while Dane Schaefer contributed three aces. Jackson Real also added 13 points. Costa Rica Rolls to Convincing Win Over Nicaragua 

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, November 19, 2025. – Costa Rica delivered a dominant performance, defeating Nicaragua 3-0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-13) to close the second day of action in Pool A of the NORCECA Boys’ U17 Continental Championship. Kenneth Quirós scored 14 points and Braulio Alvarado added nine as Costa Rica’s top scorers. Mexico Earns First Victory with Win Over Dominican Republic
 

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, November 19, 2025. – Mexico claimed its first victory with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-10) sweep over the Dominican Republic, closing the second day of action in Pool B of the NORCECA U17 Boys’ Continental Championship. 

The Mexican team, which lost its opening match against the United States, improved its performance to level its record at 1-1. The Dominican Republic now stands at 0-2 after also falling to Cuba on the first day. For Mexico, the top scorers were Francisco Merino with 13 points, Axel Ortiz with 11, and Yanis Medrano with 10. For the Dominican Republic, Darlin García and Enmanuel Ledesma scored six points each. Mexico dominated the attack with a wide 45-19 advantage and led in aces 7-0, while the blocking margin was a narrow 3-1. United States Defeats Cuba to Claim Second Victory
 

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, November 19, 2025. – The United States recovered after dropping the first set to defeat Cuba 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-13), earning their second win in Pool B of the NORCECA U17 Boys’ Continental Championship. Cuba (1-1) came from behind to snatch the first set 25-23, rallying from a 20-23 deficit and scoring five straight points without a U.S. response. 

In the following sets, the United States improved significantly, especially from the service line, putting Cuba’s reception under pressure and limiting their offense, which was contained by an efficient block that totaled 14 points compared to only five from the Cubans. The U.S. also led in attacks 49-41 and in aces 6-4, committing 31 errors to Cuba’s 29. Noah Mbaitoloum of the United States was the top scorer for the second straight match with 18 points. Nikoden Opiola added 13, and Franklin Vincent chipped in 11. For Cuba, Reinaldo Márquez tallied 18 points, followed by Dalian La O with 13. More Español

Barbados Rallies for Reverse Sweep Win Against Nicaragua

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, November 18, 2025. – Barbados recovered after losing the first two sets to defeat Nicaragua 3-2 (19-25, 26-28, 25-17, 25-18, 15-13) in Pool A of the NORCECA U17 Men’s Continental Championship. After dominating the first set comfortably and taking the second in a dramatic finish, Nicaragua surrendered the initiative to Barbados, committing 12 errors in the third set that revived their opponents and, ultimately, cost them the match. Barbados’ Piere Gill led all scorers with 19 points. Isaiah John added 18 and Joshua Ashby contributed 17 in the victory. For Nicaragua, Carlos Gómez scored 14 points and Jeanpierre Ramírez added another 14. More Español

Defending Champion Puerto Rico Bounces Back to Defeat Costa Rica 

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, November 18, 2025. – Defending champion Puerto Rico bounced back after losing the first set to claim a 3-1 (20-25, 25-22, 25-15, 25-17) victory over Costa Rica in the opening match of Pool A at the NORCECA U17 Boys’ Continental Championship. Costa Rica dominated the first set, capitalizing on Puerto Rico’s errors, which gave them a huge advantage. Puerto Rico improved its focus and gained an edge from the service line, which affected Costa Rica’s attacking efficiency. Elvis González scored 16 points for Puerto Rico, while Jayden Figueroa added 14. Cuba Defeats the Dominican Republic in Straight Sets
 

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, November 18, 2025. – Cuba earned a comfortable 3-0 (25-8, 25-19, 25-17) victory over the Dominican Republic on the opening day of Pool B at the NORCECA U17 Boys’ Continental Championship. The Cubans came out like a steamroller in the first set, finishing it convincingly, but in the following two sets, the Dominicans managed to apply pressure with their outside hitters, especially with swings from position 2 by Víctor Acosta. Cuba maintained the lead thanks to its powerful offense, which dominated 36-18, its blocking advantage of 8-2, and its serving edge of 8-4. United States Defeats Mexico in NORCECA U17 Men’s Opening Match 

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, November 18, 2025. – The United States earned a 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-13) victory over Mexico in the opening match of Pool B at the NORCECA U17 Men’s Continental Championship. After two very tight sets, with Mexico battling point by point, the U.S. team pulled ahead early in the third set to secure the set and the match without complications. Noah Mbaitoloum of the United States led all scorers with 16 points, while Logan Flores added 10. For Mexico, Diego Ibarra finished with 8 points. The United States dominated in attacks 41-26, blocking 6-5, and serving 4-1, committing 23 errors to Mexico’s 24. The next opponent for the United States will be Cuba at 2:00 p.m. local time, while Mexico will face the Dominican Republic at 4:00 p.m.  More Español

NORCECA Boys’ U17 Continental Championship to Get Underway in Nicaragua

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, November 12, 2025. – The second edition of the NORCECA Volleyball Boys’ U17 Continental Championship is set to take place from November 18 to 23 at the Alexis Argüello Multisports Complex in Managua, Nicaragua. The tournament will serve as a qualifier for the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U17 World Championship, to be held in Doha, Qatar. At least the NORCECA champion will earn a berth to the world event, with the FIVB expected to confirm the total number of qualification spots for the NORCECA Confederation at a later date.
