Colombia’s Miguel Ángel Martínez Named MVP of Santo Domingo 2026

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 30, 2026. – Colombia’s Miguel Ángel Martínez was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the men’s volleyball tournament at the 25th Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 after leading his country to its first-ever gold medal in the event. Martínez also collected the Best Opposite award and finished as the tournament’s Best Scorer with 110 points, making him the most decorated player of the competition with three individual honors. Guatemala placed two players on the tournament’s Dream Team with Adolfo Rivas earning Best Setter honors and José Pablo Pérez recognized as First Best Spiker. Cuba had three award recipients. Alexis Wilson was selected as First Best Blocker, Miguel Ángel López was named Best Receiver, and Daniel Martínez earned the Best Server distinction.  More  Español

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 30, 2026. – Dominican Republic claimed fifth place in the men’s volleyball tournament of the 25th Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 after defeating Venezuela in thrilling five sets 3-2 (27-29, 25-23, 20-25, 26-24, 15-12). The match remained in doubt from start to finish. Venezuela claimed a tightly contested opening set, but the hosts answered to level the match. Colombia Stuns Defending Champion Cuba to Reach the Final
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 29, 2026. – Colombia delivered one of the biggest upsets of the men's volleyball tournament at the 25th Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, eliminating defending champion Cuba with a dramatic 3-2 (25-27, 25-19, 17-25, 25-19, 15-12) semifinal victory. Colombia will face Puerto Rico for the gold medal, seeking the first Central American and Caribbean Games title in the nation's history. Cuba will face Colombia for a place in the final, while Mexico will take on Puerto Rico in the other semifinal. After dropping the opening set, Cuba raised its level in attack and blocking to seize control of the match and complete the comeback.
