Canada Opens NORCECA Girls' U19 Championship with Comfortable
Victory

JOSÉ, Costa Rica, July 20, 2026. – Canada opened its campaign at
the NORCECA Girls' U19 Continental Championship with a
comfortable 3-0 (25-8, 25-11, 25-10) victory over Jamaica in a
Pool C match. Canada took control of the match from the opening
points and never allowed Jamaica to find its rhythm. The
Canadians dominated the first set convincingly and maintained
the same intensity throughout the next two sets, steadily
widening the margin to secure a comfortable straight-set
victory. It was a one-sided contest, with Canada leading the
match's key statistical categories in attacks (38-6), aces
(12-0), and blocks (3-2). Jamaica, meanwhile, conceded 22 points
on unforced errors, one more than Canada (21). Makenna McCann
led Canada's offense with 12 points, while Bailey Royston,
Alexandra Brenner, and Kellyn Mbonjo each added nine. For
Jamaica, Marissa Johnson finished as her team's leading scorer
with three points.

Dominican Republic Overcomes Cuba in Hard-Fought Battle at
NORCECA U19

JOSÉ, Costa Rica, July 20, 2026. – The Dominican Republic
prevailed over Cuba 3-1 (25-19, 25-13, 21-25, 25-22) in a
hard-fought battle in its opening match of the NORCECA Girls'
U19 Continental Championship. The Dominican Republic with a 1-0
win-loss record, matching the United States atop Pool A. The two
teams will meet on the third day of competition to determine the
group winner. Cuba, meanwhile, concluded pool play with its
second defeat and will now await the outcome of the remaining
matches to learn its opponent for the next phase, where the
final tournament positions will be determined.

Puerto Rico Opens NORCECA Girls' U19 Continental Championship
with Victory

JOSÉ, Costa Rica, July 20, 2026. – Puerto Rico opened its
campaign at the NORCECA Girls' U19 Continental Championship with
a 3-1 (25-14, 21-25, 25-17, 25-15) victory over the U.S. Virgin
Islands on the second day of competition. With the result, the
U.S. Virgin Islands completed Pool B play with a 0-2 record,
finishing in third place and now awaiting the outcome of the
final day of pool play to determine their opponent in the next
stage. Puerto Rico, meanwhile, remains in contention for the top
spot in Pool B, which will be decided in its next match against
Mexico. After dropping the second set, Puerto Rico responded
immediately, regained control of the match in the third, and
closed it out convincingly in the fourth to secure its first
victory of the championship.

campaign at the NORCECA Girls’ U19 Continental Championship in
dominant fashion with a straight-set 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-15)
victory over Jamaica in the match that closed the opening day of
competition and kicked off Pool C action. The hosts took control
from the opening set with a strong offensive performance and
effective serving. Although Jamaica showed flashes of
competitiveness, particularly at the net with its blocking.

Mexico Opens NORCECA Girls’ U19 Continental Championship with a
Win

JOSÉ, Costa Rica, July 19, 2026. – Mexico opened its campaign at
the NORCECA Girls’ U19 Continental Championship with a 3-0
(25-22, 25-16, 25-15) victory over the U.S. Virgin Islands in
the first match of Pool B. Mexico had to work hard to take a
closely contested opening set, as the U.S. Virgin Islands kept
the score tight until the final stretch. From the second set
onward, Mexico took control behind a solid blocking performance
and more effective serving, imposing its rhythm to secure the
victory without further difficulty. Mexico built its win with
strong performances in blocking (14-11) and serving (8-3).
Although the teams were nearly even in attacks (33-32), Mexico
was more consistent, committing only 14 unforced errors compared
to 23 by the U.S. Virgin Islands.

United States Start Strong at the NORCECA Girls’ U19
Championship
SAN JOSÉ, Costa Rica, July 19, 2026.–
The
United States opened the tournament with a convincing 3-0
(25-16, 25-16, 25-10) victory over Cuba on the first day of Pool
A at the NORCECA Girls’ U19 Continental Championship. Although
Cuba offered resistance in the first two sets, particularly
early in the opening set and after tying the score at 16-16 in
the second, the United States imposed its stronger offense and
went on to dominate the match convincingly, especially in the
third set. The Americans held a 41-21 advantage in attacks,
while also leading Cuba in service aces (10-0) and blocks (4-1).
Both teams finished even with 20 points scored from opponents'
errors.

NORCECA Girls’ U19 Championship Offers Four Berths to the World
Championship

JOSÉ, Costa Rica, July 18, 2026. – The nine national teams
competing in the 2026 NORCECA Girls’ U19 Continental
Championship will battle for one of four available berths to the
2027 FIVB Girls’ U19 World Championship. Pool A features
defending champions the United States, along with the Dominican
Republic and Cuba. Pool B includes Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the
U.S. Virgin Islands, while host Costa Rica will compete in Pool
C alongside Canada and Jamaica. The tournament will award four
places to the 2027 FIVB Girls’ U19 World Championship, with the
four semifinalists earning automatic qualification.
