USA
girls score overwhelming victory against Jamaica
GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, April 28, 2010 –
Defending champions USA crushed Jamaica in
straight sets (25-4, 25-7, 25-4) improving its
mark to 2-0 in Pool C of NORCECA Girls’ Youth
Championship. Jamaica dropped to 0-2.
The skills and coordination of USA Team highly
contrasted with the inexperience and raw talent
of Jamaican players.
Mallory McCage led USA with 9 points and Mylan
Eugene and Angela Lowak provided 7 points apiece
as each player of the American side scored at
least one point.
“I am glad that we got contribution from
everyone as each one of my players participated
in the game,” said USA coach Jim Stone. “We
played consistently throughout the three sets.”
“Tomorrow we have a big match against Canada”,
he added. “That is a match we have to win if we
want to move forward.”
Jamaica’s coach O’Neil Banks said: “We played
with some heart and the girls showed character.
I see a lot of improvement and it is a learning
experience for us. As I have said before, we
only can get better.”
