Puerto Rico moved
to Semi Finals of NORCECA U-19
BAYAGUANA, Dominican Republic,
August 24, 2006.- Puerto Rico
beat Guatemala 3-0 (25-13,
25-14, 25-9) to win Pool A of
the NORCECA Boys U-19
Continental Tournament advancing
the semi final round.
Rafael Negron scored 10 points
and was the only placer with
double figures. He was followed
by Omar Rivera and William
Badillo with 9 and 8 points
respectively.
Jose
Mejia led Guatemala with 7. In
other match on Thursday, Canada
beat Mexico 3-0 and qualified in
second place in Pool B. The
score was 25-16, 26-24, 25-23.
Gordon Perrin with 17 points was
the top Canadian scorer, Graeme
Higgins added 11, Ciaran
McGovern charted 8 and Robert
Bennett and Stefan Savole each
had 6 points. Juan Arriola led
Mexico with 7 points and Martin
Petris added 6.
In
the nightcap, USA defeated
Dominican Republic 25-17, 25-23,
25-14 to finish second in Pool
A. Bradley Lawson led USA with
12 points, Carson Clark
contributed 11 points and Austin
Ellis added 9.
Wascar Garcia had 10 points for
Dominican Republic and Toribio
Garcia added 8.On Friday, USA
will meet Mexico and Dominican
Republic will face Canada in the
quarterfinals. The semi finals
are scheduled for Saturday and
the medal matches will be played
on Sunday. |
