                                OSAKA, Japan, August 8, 2009 - Puerto Rico 
                                pulled off a stunning upset, beating world 
                                champions Russia 3-1 on their sixth match point 
                                at Osaka Municipal Central Gym on Saturday 
                                afternoon. 
                                
                                Puerto Rico came into the match with a 0-4 
                                record, but outlasted Russia 25-17, 25-22, 
                                22-25, 28-26 to record a massive victory against 
                                the European super power. 
                                
                                Russia lost the first two sets but turned it 
                                around in the third, only for Puerto Rico to 
                                find a second wind and come home on their sixth 
                                match point. Russia dropped to 3-2 overall. 
                                
                                Aurea Cruz and Sarai Alvarez were the main 
                                weapons of Puerto Rico’s arsenal scoring 28 and 
                                22 points respectively in the victory. Ekaterina 
                                Gamova and Tatiana Kosheleva had 19 and 17 for 
                                Russia. 
                                
                                In Miao Li, Taiwan, USA lost to Netherlands in 
                                five sets. The Dutch, who are unbeaten in five 
                                outings, triumphed by score of 12-25, 25-22, 
                                25-16, 21-25, 15-13. USA is now 2-3. 
                                
                                In another match, Germany (3-0) trounced 
                                Dominican Republic 25-16, 25-17, 25-20 in just 
                                75 minutes of action. 
                                
                                The Dominicans dropped to 1-4 record.
