Tiffany Dodds and Tonya Mokelki led Canada with 15 and 10 points respectively and Jennifer Hinze contributed 8 points, including four blocks. Krystle Esdelle recorded 14 points for Trinidad and Tobago and Kelly-Anne Billingy added nine.

The Canadians outscored their rivals in the blocking category 12-8 and also in the ace serves department 6-3.

“We have to maintain the focus in tomorrow’s match against Mexico as we came here not only to qualify to Japan but also to win the tournament,” said Captain Tammy Mahon, whose team fell short in its attempt to the Worlds four years ago while losing to Mexico.

“The game developed as planned and tomorrow we have to go and give 100 percent against Mexico,” said Arnd Ludwig, the Coach of Canada.
