Canadian Tiffany Dodds was elected MVP in Tijuana

TIJUANA, Mexico, August 31, 2009 – Canadian Tiffany Dodds was elected as the Most Valuable Player of the last qualifier tournament in NORCECA for the Final Round of next year’s FIVB Women’s World Championship where her team alongside with Costa Rica booked the remaining two tickets.

”I have been with the national team for the past five years and in comparison with other years I feel that this is a more united team,” said Dodds before departing.

Dodds took home the recognition as MVP and Best Attacker while her compatriot Sherline Holness was distinguished as Best Blocker.

Tiff, as she is called by her teammates, has a big international experience participating in the Spaniard Super League and in the Korean V League.

“To play in Korea opened my eyes, because the training system is very heavy and they go back to the old school,” said Dodds.

Other individual awards given by NORCECA went to Costa Ricans Verania Willis and Onicka Pinnock as Best Scorer and Server respectively. Mexican Nancy Ortega received the plaque as Best Setter, and teammate Lizeth Lopez was awarded as Best Receiver, Best Digger and Best Libero.
