Strickland and Roberts won the gold at NORCECA

BOCA CHICA, Dominican Republic, April 17, 2006.- Americans William Strickland and Adam Roberts  took the gold medal at the NORCECA Men’s Continental Beach Volleyball Tournament. Strickland-Roberts defeated Dominican Juan Pozo-Francisco Abreu 21-9, 21-14 in the semi final match and then won by default against Puerto Ricans Raul Papaleo and Joseph Gil. Gil aggravated his physical condition during the Puerto Rican triumph over Costa Ricans Gilberto and Alexander Villegas 21-13, 21-19 in the semi finals. He was favoring his injured left calf and ended experiencing problems with his right hip. Strickland-Roberts heavily favourites in NORCECA Beach Volley Event

BOCA CHICA, Dominican Republic, April 16, 2006.- Americans William Strickland and Adam Roberts qualified in first place in the double elimination round of the NORCECA Men’s Continental Beach Volleyball Tournament by winning their two matches on Saturday. The pair from California will meet Dominicans Juan Pozo and Francisco Abreu during the semi finals on Sunday. In the other semi final match, Puerto Ricans Raul Papaleo and Joseph Gil will play against Costa Ricans Gilberto and Alexander Villegas. On Saturday, Strickland-Roberts, winners of Pool B, first defeated Carlos Leiva and Jeovanny Medrano of El Salvador 21-15, 21-11 and then won by default against Papaleo-Gil due to a calf injury of Gil. In early matches, Papaleo-Gil defeated Pozo-Abreu 21-13, 21-11 and Villegas brothers 21-17, 21-19. BOCA CHICA, Dominican Republic, April 15, 2006.- Costa Ricans brothers Alexander and Gilberto Villegas and Americans William Strickland and Adam Roberts led their respective pools with unbeaten record (3-0) during the first day of action of the NORCECA’s Men Continental Beach Volleyball Tournament. Playing in Pool A, Villegas siblings first defeated Jeovanny Medrano and Carlos Leiva of El Salvador 23-21, 21-17, then beat Dominican Republic II (Jewddys Perez-Charly Vargas) 21-12, 21-18 and Dominican Republic I (Juan Pozo-Francisco Abreu) 21-12, 21-17. Continental Men’s Beach Volleyball in Boca Chica
