Brazil defeated Costa Rica
SAN
JUAN, Puerto Rico, July 3, 2006.-
Brazilian coach Roberto Guimaraes used all twelve players in every
set with the exception of the opening one, and his team beat Costa
Rica 25-13, 25-13, 25-16. The match was a preparation for the next
round where the Brazilians (4-1) have at least secured the second
place in Pool A pending the outcome of the Puerto Rico-Dominican
Republic contest. Mari Steinbrecher had 13 points for Brazil and
Caroline Gattaz added 11, including 7 kills in 10 attempts. Verania
Willis, who led all the scorers with 17 points, was once again the
best attacker of Costa Rica, who ended in sixth place with 0-5 mark.
