Costa Rica qualified in 11th position

JUAN, Puerto Rico, July 5, 2006.-
Costa
Rica defeated Barbados in straight sets in the match for the 11th
position at the Women’s Pan American Cup. The Costa Ricans had a
slow start but once the match progressed they were consistent with
their attacks and beat the Caribbeans by score of 25-19, 25-16,
25-15. “The girls were a little nervous at the beginning, especially
the setter,” said Braulio Godinez, the coach of Costa Rica. “We had
the responsibility of winning this match and we complied. “It was
not a great match but it means a lot to us because it allows a
change in our mentality,” he added. Verania Willis and Karen Cope
led Costa Rica with 14 and 12 points respectively and Shari Matthews
had 11 points for Barbados.
