USA and Puerto Rico unbeaten in both genders at Boqueron  

CABO ROJO, Puerto Rico, July 9, 2010 – United States 1 and Puerto Rico 1 finished unbeaten with their two top pairs both in women and men during the first day of action in the sixth stop of the Fourth NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit being played in Boqueron Beach at Cabo Rojo.

The United States 1 men’s team (Tim Church/Dana Camacho) won its two matches against Trinidad & Tobago (21-11, 21-18) and Guatemala (21-17, 21-13). Meanwhile, the American women (Tealle Hunkus/Heather Lowe) defeated Barbados (21-11, 21-7) and Dominican Republic (21-14, 21-5).

Elsewhere, Puerto Rico 1 men’s pair (Orlando Irizarry/Roberto Rodriguez) claimed two victories over United States 2 (21-16, 21-12) and El Salvador (21-16, 22-20).

Also the women’s pair of Puerto Rico 1 (Yarleen Santiago y Dariam Acevedo) defeated Jamaica (21-13, 21-10) and Trinidad & Tobago (21-10, 21-12).

A total of 50 participants from 11 countries are competing in this NORCECA being played in the Boqueron Beach facilities that will be the site of Beach Volleyball Tournament during the XXI Central American and Caribbean Games.

The Saturday’s action starts at 10:00 a.m.

The scheduled matches in the women’s event are: JAM vs. CAN 1, GUA vs. BAR, PUR vs. CAN 2, USA 2 vs. DOM, USA vs. PUR 2 and MEX vs. TTO.

In the men’s bracket the matches will be TTO vs. PUR 3, PUR 2 vs. ESA, USA vs. CRC, MEX vs. USA 2, PUR vs. DOM and CAN vs. GUA.
