SAN SALVADOR, July 4, 2008.- Dominican
Republic defeated El Salvador 3-0 and will
play for the fifth position in the U-21
Norceca Men’s Continental Championship.
The sets concluded 25-19, 25-8, 25-16 with
attacker Pedro Garcia scoring 24 points
continuing as the leader of the event with
108.
After a first set where teams had an
adequate battle, the first stop of the
second set found Dominican Republic
leading 8-6, so starting from that point
they dominated 17-2.
“Maybe a little bit late our best game
finally came, I kn ow we can do much
better, but we are ready to battle for the
fifth place,” said Jacinto Campechano, the
Dominican coach.
“We always can get good things out of
these events, even when the results don’t
come in your way. Today I had the chance
to work with some of my younger players,”
he added.
“Today we were better, We lacked scrimmage
matches and it is now when we start to get
the rhythm, but anyway we are going to go
out to play hard for the fifth place,”
said setter and captain Lorenzo Santos,
who was the leader among the setters
entering last night match.
Raul Trujillo was the best scorer for El
Salvador with 6 points. |
