Brazil trounced Uruguay
COLIMA, Mexico, June 23, 2007.- Brazil improved its record to 3-0
in Pool B of the Women’s Pan American Cup with an easy victory
over Uruguay in straight sets 25-13, 25-16, 25-14.
Playing mostly with reserve players, the young Brazilians showed
the same good composure as in previous matches and they still have
to lose a set in the competition.
Ingrid Felix paced Brazil with 14 points and Amanda Francisco
added 10. Florencia and Maria Aguirre each scored 8 for Uruguay.
“We took advantage of our serves and blocking,” said Betina
Schmidt, the Brazilian Captain. “The match contributed to increase
our experience.”
“The Brazilian serves really complicated things for us today and
we could not put together our game,” said Marcela Jaume, the
Captain of Uruguay.
