CHIAPAS, México, 20 de junio, 2009.- Guatemala
finished in the sixth position of the IV Men’s
Pan American Cup by defeating Panama in five
dramatic sets. The sets scores were 25-21,
16-25, 25-23, 17-25 and15-9.
The battle between the two main forces of
Central American volleyball was a game where
both teams traded leads and survived by the
opponents’ mistakes.
“It was so good to get this win but we need to
keep working hard to minimize the amount of
errors. We can’t depend on the rivals’ errors to
win the game,” said Reidel Lucas, the coach of
Guatemala.
“The team is improving but we must make clear
that 99.9% of the strength of this team is not
here. But we will continue working with the
young talent for the future of our selection,”
said Sergio Ballesta, the coach of Panama.
Jeyson Neris and Juan Castillo each scored 16
points for Guatemala and Juan Mendez added 14.
Francisco De Toma was the best Panamanian with
19 points. |
