SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, March 23, 2010 –Fresh
from the successful opening stage in Cayman
Islands, the 2010 NORCECA Beach Volleyball
Circuit now moves to El Salvador the smallest
but the most densely populated country in
Central America.
The action will take place next weekend on the
sands of a temporary facility located next to
the biggest shopping mall of San Salvador, the
capital of the country bordering the Pacific
Ocean.
“After the exciting action in Grand Cayman we
are hopeful of more emotions with the players of
both genders competing at their highest level
and enthusiasm,” said Arnaldo Sánchez, President
of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Commission and
Technical Director of the Circuit.
This will mark the second time El Salvador hosts
one stage of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball
Circuit. The last time was in 2008.
“The National Federation of El Salvador and the
Organizing Committee have been working very hard
to ensure once again a successful event,” said
the Puerto Rican Sanchez.
Last weekend, Puerto Ricans Yarleen Santiago and
Dariam Acevedo defeated Americans Brooke
Langston and Heather Lowe to take the women’s
gold medal and the 200 points for the 2010
Ranking. Canadians Martin Reader and Raymond
Sewell won the men’s competition with a victory
over Puerto Ricans Orlando Irizarry and Joseph
Gil.
El Salvador Beach Volleyball Tournament is one
of four tournaments (Cayman Islands, Dominican
Republic and Guatemala) scoring qualifying
points to the Central American and Caribbean
Games of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico later this year.
