BOCA CHICA, Dominican Republic, March 31, 2010 –
The 2010 NORCECA Circuit continues next weekend
with the Boca Chica Beach Volleyball Tournament,
the third stop of the competition.
The event is part of the tradition of Boca Chica,
the nearest beach to Santo Domingo, during the
Easter weekend. It is located 20 miles to the
east of the Dominican Republic capital and
thousands of vacationers crowd its white sands
and clear blue waters during this time of the
season.
Players from fourteen countries will take part
in the competition of both genders to be played
under a double-elimination format.
Mexicans Aldo Miramontes and Juan Virgen,
winners of the men’s competition in El Salvador
last week, are part of the tandems taking part
as also Puerto Rico women’s team of Dariam
Acevedo and Yarleen Santiago, winners of the
opening stage in Cayman Islands.
Alexis García, President of the Dominican
Republic Volleyball Confederation, said the
organizing committee has been working weeks in
advance to ensure a smooth running of the
competition.
“The level of the competition has improved a lot
as everyone has seen during the first two stages
of our circuit,” said García. “So we expect many
fans during our three-day tournament.”
The players, coaches and officials will stay at
Dominican Bay Hotel. The General Technical
Meeting will take place next Thursday night.
