Argentina
sweeps Dominican Republic
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, May
24, 2010 – Argentina swept Dominican Republic
3-0 (25-19, 26-24, 25-22) in the second match of
opening day in the Men’s Pan American Cup.
Federico Pereyra and Mariano
Giustiniano were the top contributors to the
winning offense with 19 and 12 points
respectively while Jose Caceres and Victor
Batista charted 16 and 15 for the losers.
“They forced us to play our
best volleyball,” Argentinean Coach Alejandro
Grossi said during the post-game press
conference. “I think the difference was that we
executed at the key final moments of the second
and third sets.”
“They have better technical
level than us and didn’t make the errors in the
key late moments as we did,” Dominican Jacinto
Campechano stated. “Our setters are improving
but we still have some problems with our
reception.”
