MEXICALI, Baja California, May 31, 2008.-
Dominican Republic blanked Trinidad & Tobago
25-12, 25-17, 25-17 to improve its win-loss record
to 2-0 in Pool A of the Women’s Pan American Cup.
Milagros Cabral and Prisilla Rivera were the best
scorers for Dominican Republic with 13 and 11
points respectively. Krystle Estelle led the
Trinidadians with 9 points.
It was a lop-sided match with the Dominicans
showing their skills and experience against a
young athletic team of Trinidad & Tobago.
“I am satisfied with the level that my team kept
today against a team like Trinidad & Tobago which
is very promising but still has ways to go,” said
Beato Miguel Cruz, the Dominican coach.
“I rather prefer to wait until we play against
Mexico in order to have an opinion on my team,”
said Francisco Cruz, the coach of Trinidad &
Tobago. “They have a tendency to play better
against strong teams, when they don’t have nothing
to lose. So I am going to wait until tomorrow.” |
