MURCIA, Spain, October 12, 2009 – Dominican
Prisilla Rivera of CAV Murcia 2005 was elected
as the Most Valuable Player of the Spaniard
Women’s Super Cup that concluded on Sunday at
Principe de Asturias Pavillion.
Rivera scored 29 points in the decisive victory
over Menorca Volei in five dramatic sets by
score of 25-21, 25-17, 17-25, 23-25, 15-10.
This is the fourth MVP trophy earned by the
heavy-hitting Dominican who previously took the
same honors at the Spaniard League Finals, the
Queens Cup and the Norceca Continental
Championship.
“I did my job the best I could,” said Rivera
after the victory. “I lowered my rhythm for
moments because I was very tired but this is not
my trophy, it belongs to all my teammates.”
Ingrid Visser recorded 16 points to support
Rivera’s winning effort and Diana Sánchez and
Ana Ibis Fernández added 13 and 11 respectively.
For Menorca Volei, Janine Sandell scored 24
points, Marcela Re tallied 15, Milagros Moi had
13 and Ana Paula charted 11 points.
In the semi final match, CAV Murcia 2005
defeated Universidad de Burgos in straight sets
by score of 25-16, 25-10, 25-14. Visser led the
winners with 13 tallies and Rivera, Sánchez and
Fernández recorded 12 points apiece.
