ANTIGUA, Guatemala, October 22, 2009 – The
Volleyball Pan American Union held its annual
assembly here chaired by Dr. Ary
Graça
of Brazil and with the presence of Mr. Jizhong
Wei, President of FIVB.
During the meeting, Mr.
Graça
presented a report covering the activities of
the new institution held during the current year
and he praised the support he received from Mr.
Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, Vice President of the
Union.
Mr.
Graça also praised the new policy of FIVB
regarding the relationship with the Olympic
family and the rest of the international
federations.
Mr. Wei remarked the importance the athletes
have for FIVB and also the importance of the
Continental Confederations.
“Without athletes we have no coaches, no teams
and no federations,” said Mr. Wei while
adressing the assembly. “And the Continental
Confederations are now receiving a double
financial allocation from FIVB than the year
before and I will present a proposal to FIVB
Board of Administration to increase that
allocation for next year.”
Besides Mr. Graça and Mr. Marte, members of the
Executibe Committee of the Pan American Union
present in the assembly were Dr. Rafael Lloreda
and Mrs. Judith Rodriguez.
