BAYAMON, Puerto Rico, September 23, 2009 –
Dominican Republic cruised to an easy 25-12,
25-10, 25-7 victory over Trinidad & Tobago
improving to a 2-0 record in Pool A of the
NORCECA Women’s Continental Championship.
The Dominicans recorded 9 aces during the match
that lasted only 53 minutes and outscored the
Trinidadians 7-5 in blocks.
Lisvel Eve led the winners with 10 points and
Milagros Cabral contributed 9. Annerys Vargas,
Prisilla Rivera and Altagracia Mambru each had 7
points with Mambru scoring four aces. Krystle
Esdelle led the losers with nine points.
“Two different teams with two different
objectives in this tournament,” said Marcos
Kwiek. “I appreciate the seriousness that my
players showed today playing hard all the time
against a rival of different level.”
“I am satisfied with the performance of my team.
My players did their best effort against a team
of very high level like Dominican Republic,”
said Francisco Cruz, coach of Trinidad & Tobago.
