The
Women´s
National
Team
of
the
Dominican
Republic
arrived
back
in
his
homeland
and
was
received
by
the
local
sports
authorities
with
a
dedication
of a
plaque
located
in
the
front
yard
of
the
Volleyball
Palace
at
Centro
Olimpico
Juan
Pablo
Duarte.
The
plaque
has
all
the
names
of
the
players
and
coaches
of
the
squad,
the
first
ever
team
of
the
Dominican
Republic
that
qualified
for
the
Olympic
Games.
Luis
Mejia,
President
of
the
Dominican
Olympic
Committee,
Gerardo
Suero,
Under
Secretary
of
Sports,
Alexis
Garcia,
President
of
the
Dominican
Volleyball
Federation,
and
Cristobal
Marte,
President
of
NORCECA
and
Vice
President
of
the
Dominican
Federation,
took
the
opportunity
to
pronounce
words
praising
the
feat.
During
the
Olympics
in
Athens,
the
Dominican
Republic
defeated
USA
Team,
ranked
first
in
the
World,
and
the
match
was
nationally
televised.
The
