Officer Elections to Highlight USAV Winter Meetings
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. January 15, 2004 - New USA Volleyball leadership for the 2005-2008 quadrennial will be identified when the organization elects new officers on Sunday, Jan. 18.

The elections will be the highlight of the Winter Meeting of USA Volleyball's Executive Committee and Board of Directors at the Doubletree Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colo., from Thursday-Sunday, Jan. 15-18.

In addition to the elections, the board will vote to pass the 2004 USA Volleyball budget and also reconsider the rule that in the USA Volleyball bylaws (Article VI, 6.03 B) that states: "No elected officer may succeed himself or herself," an issue that was tabled at the Annual Meetings in May 2003 in Minneapolis, Minn.

The "term-limit" topic figures to be one of the first items on the agenda when the Board of Directors meeting officially convenes on Saturday and figures to play a large role in Sunday's elections.

The elected offices include the organization's president, executive vice-president, treasurer and secretary. Nominations from the floor are acceptable. Pending any nominations from the floor, there are currently two candidates running for each position.

Kevin Twohig and Stew McDole are vying to become the new president of USA Volleyball.

Fred Wendelboe and Susan True are running for the office of executive vice-president.

Darlene Kluka and Hank Van Arsdale are running against each other for secretary position.

Pete Dunn and Chuck McCracken are the candidates for the treasurer position.

The meetings will also feature reports by the Executive Committee officers, the USA Volleyball staff, the Division Vice-Presidents and the Board of Directors.
