COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo, January 30, 2004 – USA Volleyball’s High Performance Program has selected its head coaches for the upcoming 2004 season, it was announced on Thursday.

Shelton Collier will oversee the Women’s Junior National Team, while Rich Zeciski will be in charge of the Girls’ Youth National Team. Kim Jagd has been chosen to be the head coach of the Girls’ High Performance Camp.

The head coach of the Men’s Junior National Team will be John Speraw and John Kosty will lead the Boys’ High Performance Camp. The head coach of the Boys’ Youth National Team will be announced at a later date.

“I’m excited not only by the talent level of the coaching staffs but also because it is an experienced group with regards to the USA Volleyball pipeline and system,” said Tom Pingel, the Director of High Performance National Programs. “That experience should make for a seamless transition from last year’s success.”

All four national teams will be competing in the NORCECA Zone Championships later this summer for the right to advance to next year’s youth and junior world championships.

Collier guided the Girls’ YNT to an amazing fourth-place finish at the World Championships in Poland last summer. In the fall, he led Wingate to a South Atlantic Conference championship and to its first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Zeciski, who was an assistant coach for the 2003 Girl’s YNT, was named the USA Volleyball Developmental Coach of the Year in December.

Speraw was the head coach of the Men’s Junior National Team in 2002 and head coach of the 2003 Boys’ Youth National Training Team last summer.

Jagd, who recently concluded her 11th season as the women’s assistant coach at UCLA, was in charge of the USA Volleyball Girls’ High Performance A2 Camp in Colorado Springs and an assistant coach for the Girls’ High Performance Camp in St. George, Utah, last summer.

Kosty is in the midst of his 14th season as the men’s assistant coach at Stanford University. Last summer he was head coach for the Boys’ High Performance Camp and an assistant coach for the Boys’ High Performance A2 Camp in Colorado Springs.
