Costa Rican
Edgar Alvarado Ardon was re-elected
as President of the Association of
Central America Volleyball Federations
during the General Assembly of the
organization in San Jose, Costa Rica on
January 22.
Mr.Alvarado will be in the position for
the period 2005-2008 and this is the
third time he is elected as President of
AFECAVOL. He took the oath in the
presence of Mr. Cristobal Marte Hoffiz,
President of the North, Central America
and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation
(NORCECA).
The other members of the Executive
Committee elected during the meeting
were Ms. Bertha Cuadra of Nicaragua,
First Vice President; Mr. Julio Farach
of Honduras, Second Vice President; Mr.
Jose Luis Jimenez of Costa Rica,
Secretary; Mr. Jose Remon of Panama,
Treasurer; the directors will be Mr.
Norman Quijano of El Salvador, and two
representatives of Guatemala and Belize
to be named later.
New guidelines for the planning of the
new period were drawn by the General
Assembly with the hope that Central
American Volleyball will climb superior
positions in the NORCECA and the FIVB
high level competitions.
The Central American countries are
preparing for a tough 2005 with
competitions in the preliminary rounds
for the 2006 World Championships in
Japan, The Junior and Youth Central
American Championships, The Beach
Volleyball Central American
Championships, to attend the Fourth Pan
American Cup, the Senior Championships
of NORCECA with Costa Rica and Panama,
The NORCECA Beach Volleyball and the
VIII Central American Sports Games in
Guatemala. |
