takes important decisions

JOSE, Costa Rica, January 29, 2006.-
The Association of Central American
Volleyball Federations (AFECAVOL)
held its Annual General Assembly of
2005, on January 28, with the
presence of the seven members of the
zone association and with the
appropriate and guiding suggestions
of Mr, Cristobal Marte Hoffiz,
president of NORCECA.
It is important to point out that
among the main decisions taken was
the approval of the competition
calendar for the period 2006-2010
with the assignment of the national
federations that will be hosting the
major cups and the junior and youth
championships, and thus allowing the
countries the chance for a better
planning of those events.
It was agree to convoke for the
first Central American
mini-volleyball camp with the
objective of promoting in each one
of the countries the sport
initiation in volleyball at an early
age and the exchange of social,
cultural and sports experiences
between the children under 12
years-old.
The responsible federations have
confirmed and informed about the
advances in the organization of the
Beach Volleyball Championships in
Belize, the Women’s Senior Cup in
Costa Rica and the Men’s Senior Cup
in Panama, being the last two
qualifiers for the 2007 NORCECA
Seniors Championships.
With
the support from FIVB and NORCECA it
was approved the working schedule to
be followed by Cuban instructor
Gilberto Herrera with the coaches of
the national teams from each
federation. The tour is expected to
be started in Central American soil
during the month of February,
covering seven weeks of intensive
work.
