PONCE,
Puerto Rico, March 19, 2005.- The President of the Puerto Rican
Volleyball Federation Mr. Carlos Beltran had a meeting yesterday
with the Major of Ponce, Dr. Francisco Zayas, where he presented all
the details to stage in Ponce the V Pan American Cup in June 2006.
“We informed about all the details involving the Cup, besides the
impact of this event, of such importance not seen in the island
since the Pan Am Games in 1979,” said Beltran.
The Pan American Cup
qualifies three teams of NORCECA and the best ranked team of South
America for the World Grand Prix of 2007. In the event take part the
national teams of United States, Canada, Cuba, Mexico, Dominican
Republic, Costa Rica, Barbados, Brazil, Venezuela, Peru, Argentina
and Puerto Rico.
Dr. Zayas was very impressed with the presentation
and will meet with his advisors before responding to the Federation
before April 7. Last week, Beltran met with authorities of Mayaguez,
the western city planned as sub site of the Cup and also discussed
plans for this city to be site of the Men’s Pan American Cup in 2006
and the 2007 World Championship for Girls U-18. |
