SANTO
DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, October
25, 2005.- .The Dominican Republic
is the site since yesterday of an
event that because of its complexity
had not been celebrated in fourteen
years: The Internacional Course for
Coaches Level III.
“And our country has
been selected, after three years of
evaluation, because of the
excellence of the Development Center
located here,” said Cristóbal Marte,
vice president of FIVB and president
of Norceca, during the opening of
the event.
The course is
supervised by the Swiss technician
Max Meier, who is assisted by
Argentinean Carlos Diaz Bancalari
and Cuban Gilberto Herrera.
“They are 112 hours
of hard work, is a course of the
highest level, and those who
approved it will be ready to coach
at any level,” said Meier, who
remarked the attendance of coaches
from 19 countries and three
continents. Cuban Eugenio George,
honoured as Coach of the XX Century,
stated out the complexity of the
course and the importance of it for
the participating countries.
“It is only with the
technical qualification that you can
reach the development towards the
highest levels,” said George while
praising the degree of excellence of
the Development Center under the
direction of Nelson Ramirez.
“This course will
make history.”
Also in attendance
were: Alexis Garcia, president of
Fedovoli, Antonio Acosta, General
Secretary of the Dominican Olympic
Comité, and Gerardo Suero Correa,
under secretary of sports. Also:
Alejandro Salinas, Marta Centeno,
Angel Iglesias, Jose Ramon Perez
Vento and Omelio Castillo, members
of Norceca and Ramon Cuello,
president of the Dominican
Journalists Association.
