CANA, Dominican Republic, October
22, 2005.- The Executive Committee
and Board of Administration of the
Norceca Confederation and all its 34
National Federations voted
unanimously to support the
re-election of Doctor Ruben Acosta
Hernandez for a new term as
president of the FIVB during the
period 2006-2010.
The decision
was adopted during the XVIII
Congress of Norceca held for two
days in this touristic resort in the
eastern part of the Dominican
Republic.
"I am very pleased
with this kind of support in favor
of Doctor Acosta," said Cristobal
Marte, president of Norceca.
"Volleyball as sport has developed
into one of the most important
discipline under the leadership of
him and we are very proud of that
because he was the founder of our
Confederation."
The representatives
of the National Federations and the
members of the Executive signed the
following statement to support the
president of the FIVB:
The Executive

Administration of the Volleyball
North, Central American and
Caribbean Confederation and its
affiliated National Federations,
gathered on the occasion of the
XVIII Congress of the institution.
CONSIDERING: The
meritorious and excellent work
performed by Doctor Ruben Acosta
Hernandez as President of the
Federation Internationale de
Volleyball since 1984 to this day;
CONSIDERING: The
positive transformation experienced
by the sport of volleyball and beach
volleyball into one of the most
developed disciplines of the world
under the leadership of Doctor Ruben
Acosta Hernandez;
CONSIDERING: The
enormous contributions of Doctor
Ruben Acosta Hernandez toward the
North, Central American and
Caribbean Volleyball Confederation,
of which he was founder and first
president;
HAVE AGREED AND
DECIDED
To fully and
unanimously support the aspirations
of Doctor Ruben Acosta Hernandez for
his re-election to a new term of
mandate for the period 2006-2010
during the XXX Congress of the
Federation Internationale de
Volleyball to be held in Tokyo,
Japan in the month of October of
2006, as the ideal person to lead
our sport towards the highest levels
and as the best qualified individual
to represent the sport of
volleyball.
