Brazil’s Rogerio wins MVP honors

LANGLEY, Canada, September 30 2012 – Brazilian libero, Rogerio Carvalho Filho was named the Men’s U23 Pan American Cup Most Valuable Player. Along with this award, Carvalho was named Best Digger, Best Receiver and Best Libero. “This tournament was very good for us, and these awards are just a consequence of hard working and the team effort”, said the Brazilian libero at the end of the competition. “One of the most difficult matches for us was against Canada, is a very tall team. This is my first time in this country, and I also appreciate the support of brazilian fans here it was so important”. More  Español

Brazil is the U23 Men’s Pan American Cup Champion

LANGLEY, Canada, September 30, 2012 – Brazil won the gold medal at Men’s U23 Pan American Cup after defeating Argentina 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-18). Henrique Batagim scored 16 points for Brazil, while Gonzalo Lapera finished with 10 for Argentina. Brazil’s blocking game had in Leandro Santos the strong man with 4 converted attempts, while libero Rogerio Carvalho, was named the Most Valuable Player of the competition. More  Español

Dominican Republic win Bronze at Men’s U23 Pan Am Cup

LANGLEY, Canada, September 30, 2012 — Dominican Republic won the Bronze Medal against Canada in a 3-0 match (25-23, 25-15, 25-23) at Men’s U23 Pan American Cup. Pedro Luis Garcia scored 20 points and Luis David Adames finished with 15 for Dominican team, while Lucas Van Berkel was the best scorer for Canada, with 11 tallies. “The Dominican Republic played a great game today. They were much more prepared for us this time around. They executed well. Argentina to face Brazil at Men’s U23 Pan Am Cup Final

LANGLEY, Canada, September 29 2012 – Argentina became the second finalist of Men’s U23 Pan American Cup after beating Canada  26-24, 25-15, 25 23 and will play for the gold against Brazil this sunday. Gonzalo Lapera scored 21 for Argentina and Luciano Zorneta 10 (with three blocks), while Bradley Kufske finished with 16 and Nick del Bianco 11 for Canada. More  Español

Brazil advance undefeated to gold medal match

LANGLEY, Canada, September 29, 2012 - Brazil advanced with a perfect 4-0 record to the gold medal match of the Men’s U-23 Pan Am Cup by defeating Mexico in straight sets (25-16, 25-16, 25-13) on Saturday. Brazil’s Joao Ferreira finished with 13 points followed closely by Carlos Eduardo Barreto with 12. Kock Eder registered five blocks. For Mexico, Mauricio Lopez was the best scorer with 11 tallies. “We played a good match tonight. We had a good serve. Despite Mexico is a younger team I am sure they have a lot to go further in their category world championship,” stated Brazilian captain Thiago Veloso.  More  Español

Resilient Brazil survives against Canada 

LANGLEY, Canada, September 28 2012 — Brazil survived a sensational five-set battle against a resilient Canada to win 25-19, 25-15, 21-25, 24-26 and 16-14 and also qualified to the Men’s U-23 Pan American Cup final. Jonatas Cardoso les five South Americans with double-figures in scoring with   with 15 points, including three blocks. First victory for the Dominican Republic at Men’s U23 Pan Am Cup

LANGLEY, Canadá, Septiembre 28, 2012 — The Dominican Republic achieved its first victory at the Men’ s U23 Pan American Cup after defeating Mexico in three sets (25-19,  25-19, 25-18). Pedro Luis García was the scoring leader of Dominican Republic with 14 points, while Víctor Castillo converted 12. Canada overcome Dominicans for second victory

LANGLEY, Canada, September 27 2012 — Canada improved to a 2-0 win-loss record at the Men’s U-23 Pan American Cup after downing Dominican Republic 3-0 (25-18, 27-25, 27-25). Canada outscored the defeated side 17-5 in the blocking category and 5-1 in service aces. Daniel Jansen Van Doorn and Bradley Kufske were the top scorers for Canada, with 13 points apiece, while Nick del Bianco scored 11, and Branden Schmidt 10. Brazil win South American duel

LANGLEY, Canada, September 27, 2012 - Brazil opened the third day of the U-23 Men’s Pan American Cup by defeating Argentina 3-0 (25-20, 31-29, 25-18) at the Langley Sport Centre on Thursday. Alan Souza was the top scorer of Brazil with 17 points followed by Henrique Batagim with 13. Brazil defeat Dominican Republic in  U23 Pan Am Cup debut

LANGLEY, Canada, September 26 2012 — The Brazilian team debuted with a victory at the U23 Pan Am Cup, over Dominican Republic in straight sets (25-20, 25-20 y 25-13). Henrique Batagim was the best scorer for the South Americans with a total of 13 points, while Dominican, Pedro Luis García finished with 14. Argentina defeat Mexico in straight sets 

LANGLEY, Canada, September 26, 2012 — Argentina defeated Mexico in straight sets (25-16, 25-23, 25-11 ) in the second day of activities at the Men’s U23 Pan Am Cup. Gonzalo Lapera registered a total of 21 points for Argentina, while Mexico’s captain Mauricio Lopez was the top scorer for Mexico with 8. The captain of Argentina, Gonzalo Quiroga, stated that even though he could not play after pulling a muscle, everything worked as expected.   More  Español

Canada defeat surprising Mexico at Men’s U-23 Pan Am Cup 

LANGLEY, Canada, September 25 2012 - Canada overcame a 0-2 deficit to defeat Mexico in the second match of the Men’s U-23 Pan American Cup in five sets (20-25, 24-26, 25-18, 25-13 and 15-13). Canada’s Bradley Kufske, Nick del Bianco and Derek Thiessen finished with 20, 19 and 12 points respectively in a very closed match. Argentina Open with a victory at Men’s U-23 Pan Am Cup

LANGLEY, Canada, September 25, 2012 - Argentina opened the Men’s U-23 Pan American Cup with a 3-1 (25-15, 22-25, 25-22, 25-17) victory over Dominican Republic. International Volleyball comes to Langley for the first time ever

Argentina is one of the teams to beat at U-23 Men’s Cup

Coaches are ready for the Men’s U-23 Pan Am Cup 

LANGLEY, Canada, September 24, 2012 - The coaches of the teams competing at the Men’s U-23 Pan American Cup declared theirs squads ready for the tournament that kicks off at the Langley Events Centre on Tuesday. During Monday’s preliminary inquiry as well as the official presentation following the General Technical Meeting, held at Langley’s City Hall, with the presence of four of the five the teams, the coaches commented on their goals for the event which runs from September 25-30.
