NCVA advocates for a balanced hosting system

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, May 21, 2015 – The North Central Volleyball Association (NCVA) concluded its general assembly in Santo Domingo advocating for a strict rotation system to host the main competitions organized by the NORCECA Confederation. The zonal body is composed by the biggest countries of the confederation with Canada, United States and Mexico from North America and Cuba, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico from the Greater Antilles. The representatives of those countries are in favor of a competition calendar designed to avoid two competitions in one country. More  Español

USA serves tough against Mexico

DETROIT, USA, May 21, 2015 – The United States used powerful serving to defeat a young Mexican team, 25-15, 25-12, 25-17 on Thursday at the NORCECA Champions Cup at Joe Louis Arena. The United States (1-0) will play Cuba (0-1) on Friday in the round robin tournament while Mexico (0-1) will face Canada (1-0).  The top two Champions Cup finishers qualify for the 2015 FIVB World Cup, which is the first qualifier for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The United States led in aces 15-3, with middle blocker Max Holt finishing with seven and opposite Murphy Troy adding four. Canada beats Cuba for the third time this week

DETROIT, USA, May 21, 2015 - Canada once again claimed victory over Cuba, this time at the NORCECA Men’s Champions Cup in Detroit, Michigan. Canada won 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-17), after two similar wins this past weekend in the opening matches of FIVB World League. The competition in Detroit includes United States, ranked No. 1 in NORCECA, Cuba (No. 2), Canada (No. 3) and Mexico (No. 4) in competition today (May 21), Friday (May 22) and Saturday (May 23) at Joe Louis Arena.  This is the third time that Canada and Cuba have faced each other in less than a week. Again opposite Gavin Schmitt led the scoring for Canada with 15 points. Justin Duff had 12.  More  Español

Dominicans win friendly series with Spain

LORCA, Spain, May 21, 2015 – Dominican Republic defeated Spain 3-1 (30-28, 25-18, 14-25, 25-15) in the third and decisive match of the friendly women’s volleyball series at Complejo Deportivo Feli of Lorca.

After losing the first match in Valencia in four sets, the Dominicans claimed the victory in the second contest at Xativa. Gina Mambru and Jineiri Martinez were the best scorers. More  Español

Dominicans score impressive win over Brazil

LIMA, Peru, May 21, 2015 – Dominican Republic made an impressive debut at the U20 Women’s Volleyball Copa Latina by defeating Brazil 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-20) in the first match of Thursday at Eduardo Dibos Coliseum of Lima. Cuba sweeps six matches against Dominican Republic

BANI, Dominican Republic, May 19, 2015 – Cuba outdueled hosts Dominican Republic in five sets 3-2 (26-24, 25-13, 26-28, 22-25, 15-11) to conclude the men’s volleyball Maximo Gomez Cup winning all the six matches of the friendly series played in different cities of the country.
