Five Duos Remain Undefeated After Balanced Women’s Opening Day in Costa Rica

SAN JOSÉ, Costa Rica, April 17, 2026.- Five duos finished undefeated after the opening day of the women’s main draw at the first stop of the 2026 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour, in a competitive start held at La Sabana that featured both dominant wins and tightly contested matches. The pairs of Darby Dunn/Alison McKay (Canada), Crismil Paniagua/Bethania Almanzar (Dominican Republic), Torrey Van Winden/Lindsey Sparks (United States), Susana Torres/Abril Flores (Mexico), and hosts Marcela Araya/Eugenia Ramírez (Costa Rica) set the pace with two victories each. In Pool A, Dunn/McKay dominated with a 2-0 (21-8, 21-8) win over Costa Rica’s Ingrid Núñez/Keila Moreno and a 2-0 (21-8, 21-17) victory against El Salvador’s Karla Tovar/Daniela Vigil. Earlier, Tovar/Vigil had claimed a 2-0 (21-0, 21-0) forfeit win over Vernecia Caines/D’Keisha Jordan of the U.S. Virgin Islands, who later fell 2-0 (21-15, 21-15) to Núñez/Moreno. More Español

Seven Duos Dominate Men’s Opening Day at NORCECA Tour First Stop

SAN JOSÉ, Costa Rica, April 17, 2026.- The opening day of the men’s main draw at the first stop of the 2026 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour, held at La Sabana, saw seven duos take control after recording two victories each, establishing themselves as the most solid teams of the day. In Pool A, the Mexican pair Carlos Andrés/Lares displayed complete dominance with a 2-0 (21-7, 21-10) win over Costa Rica’s Lance Akerson/Christian Oporta and another 2-0 (21-12, 21-7) victory against Kymani Greenidge/Aden Rojas of the U.S. Virgin Islands. In the same group, Guatemala’s Manuel Estrada/José Miguel Izaguirre remain in contention after defeating Greenidge/Rojas 2-0 (21-5, 21-7) and then edging Akerson/Oporta 2-1 (21-12, 13-21, 15-11).
