Argentinean, Anahí Tosi, MVP at U18 Cup

HAVANA, Cuba, March 22, 2015 – Anahí Tosi, champion team, was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the III Girls’ U18 Pan Am Cup held at the Coliseum of the Sports City. Argentina won the III Girls’ U18 Pan Am Cup

HAVANA, Cuba, March 22, 2015 – Argentinean team won the III Girls’ U18 Pan Am Cup over Dominican 17-25, 25-21, 13-25, 25-23, and 15-8 on the final match at the Coliseum of the Sports City. The top scorers of this crucial clash decided in almost two hours were precisely from both teams, the South American María Corbalán and Natalia Martínez, both with 22. Cuba wins bronze over Puerto Rico

HAVANA, Cuba, March 22, 2015 – Cuban team won the bronze medal of the III U18 Girls’ Pan American Volleyball Cup after defeating Puerto Rico for second time, in this case, in straight sets 25-21, 25-22, and 25-16. At the Coliseum of the Sports City, the local girls added much joy to the qualification to the U18 WCH to be held in Peru in the upcoming August, after claiming the last available quota of NORCECA and South America when winning the Pool B. Peru assures fifth place in retaliation versus Mexico  

HAVANA, Cuba, March 22, 2015 – Peruvian team defeated Mexico 27-25, 24-26, 20-25, 25-23, and 15-12 and assured the fifth place of the III Girls’ U18 Volleyball Pan Am Cup which will be closed today at the Coliseum of the Sports City. Two hours and 19 minutes lasted the fifth tie-breaker where both teams tallied 111 points. However, it resulted in the third victory by the South Americans.  More  Español

Argentina against Dominican in final of U18 Cup

HAVANA, Cuba, March 21, 2015 – Peru trounced Costa Rica 25-6, 25-18, 25-5 and will be the Mexicans’ rival for the fifth place of the III Girls’ U18 Volleyball Pan American Cup in the opening match (14:00, local time) on Sunday. Mexico to play for fifth place at U18 Cup

HAVANA, Cuba, March 21, 2015 – Mexico defeated Chile in straight sets (25-15, 25-22, 25-23) and will play for the fifth place of the III Girls’ U18 Volleyball Pan Am Cup.  In a match that lasted an hour and 13 minutes, the only scorer with a double-digit tally was Mexico’s Kathya García with 11 points. Cuba wins Pool B and last ticket to U18 WCH

HAVANA, Cuba, March 19, 2015 – Cuba easily dominated Costa Rica 25-2, 25-6, 25-11, to win Pool B and claim the last available ticket to the world championship on the final day of the preliminary phase of the III U18 Girls’ Pan American Volleyball Cup. In 53 minutes, the host team sealed the victory in the unique match of today’s calendar which ended in three sets where the outside hitter Dairis Pérez (15) and the middle blocker Aliama Cese (10) had a double-digit tally. Dominicans overcome Argentina in five sets

HAVANA, Cuba, March 19, 2015 – The Dominican team had to battle to beat Argentina 21-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-19, and 15-5 in the third five-set match of the final day of the preliminary phase of the III Girls’ U18 Pan Am Volleyball Cup at the Coliseum of the Sports City. Although the Dominicans only needed to win one single set to secure the first position in the Pool A, they overcame their opposition presented by their rivals from the very beginning to finish undefeated and move directly to the semi-finals next Saturday.  More  Español

Mexico edges Peru in another close match

HAVANA, Cuba, March 19, 2015 – Mexico edged Peru 25-21, 25-21, 23-25, 20-25, 15-13 as both teams finished tied with a 1-2 win-loss record in the preliminary phase of the Pool A of the III Girls’ U18 Volleyball Pan Am Cup. In the second tie-break match of this tournament which lasted two hours, the most effective Mexicans in attack were Karla Mirelis (15), Katya García, Karina Flores (11), and Alondra Amaro (10). Havana, Cuba, March 18, 2015 – Cuba team won over Chile in consecutive sets 25-13, 25-17, and 25-13 on the second competition day of the III U18 Girls’ Pan American Volleyball Cup getting closer to the qualification for the World Championship to be held next August. Havana, Cuba, March 18, 2015 – Another demonstration of power the Dominican team made to overcome Peru 25-15, 25-9, and 25-14, and so they keep themselves unbeatable in the Pool A at the III Girls’ U18 Pan Am Volleyball Cup. Argentina defeats Mexico in three sets

HAVANA, Cuba, March 18, 2015 – Argentina defeated Mexico in straight sets (25-11, 25-18, 25-18) for their first victory at the III Girls’ U18 Pan American Cup on Wednesday. The Argentineans erased a 4-9 difference in the third set of the match to improve their win-loss record at 1-1 while the Mexicans dropped to 0-2 in Pool A. Anahi Tosi, the only player to finish the match with double digits in the scores, had 12 points, followed by Maria Corbalan and Fiamma Biain with 9.  More  Español

Puerto Rico scores first victory at U18 Cup

HAVANA, Cuba, March 18, 2015 – Puerto Rico defeated Costa Rica 3-0 (25-13, 25-10, 25-14) for their first victory at the III Girls’ U18 Volleyball Pan Am Cup, the last qualifier to the World Championship at the Coliseum of Ciudad Deportiva on Wednesday. In a match where Puerto Rican coach used all his players, the captain Joscelyn Coronel was the best scorer with seven points while Ivania Ortiz added six. Havana, Cuba, March 17, 2015 – Dominican Republic, the reigning NORCECA champions, overpowered Mexico 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-16) in the opening day of the Girls’ U18 Pan American Cup at the Coliseum of the Sports City. Over the 69 minutes of the match between two of the four already qualified teams in Pool A the World Championship, the Dominicans dominated their rivals in spikes (34-30), blocks (7-4), and services (4-0) with an outstanding performance. Chile dominates Costa Rica in Pool

HAVANA, Cuba, March 17, 2015 – Chile brushed aside Costa Rica 3-0 (25-11, 25-11, 25-6) in opening day of the III Girls’ U18 Pan American Cup. The two teams compete in Pool B which offers the only ticket available to the world championship. The match lasted only one hour an three minutes with Josefa Marti, Karen Morales, Catalina Agurto and Magdalena Ramirez each contributing 8 points in the victory. Four teams vying for last berth in U18 FIVB World Championship

HAVANA, Cuba, March 14, 2015 – Teams from Chile, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico and Cuba will be battling for the last position available for NORCECA and South America to the FIVB Girls’ World Championship in Peru next August, when the U18 Pan American Cup gets underway in Havana on Tuesday. Those squads will be grouped in Pool B of the eight-team competition that also includes sides from Argentina, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Peru. More  Español
