Antigua and Barbuda marches to the finals

ORANJESTAD, St Eustatius, July 8, 2018 - Following a complete collapse in last night’s game, Antigua and Barbuda showed that renowned fighting spirit and trounced the British Virgin Islands with a score line of 3: 0 (25- 11 , 25- 6, 25-8).  Team Antigua and Barbuda’s display was a complete metamorphosis, as they remained composed and played with glee.  As per usual, Captain Lewis was the main offensive weapon, as she hammered home ten (10)    points. She was given salient support from Aliya Alfred who contributed six (6) points.

Team British Virgin Islands (IVB) also showed signs of improvement but it was short lived, as they crumbled under the weight of the Wadadli attack.  Team moral plummeted as the game progressed despite the efforts of Captain Fahie to motivate her team mates.  This precipitated the unraveling of team fundamentals and composure.   The leading scores for the British Virgin Islands was Xiomara Malone with four (4) points.

Coach Lewis from Antigua and Barbuda opined her team learned and made the necessary adjustments following last night’s lost.  The team played relaxed and did the fundamentals of Volleyball well but did not underestimate the opposition.  Her opposition colleague, Coach Potter, felt his charges were unfairly burdened by the officiating. However, he is of the view his team will rise again.
