The battle for the main bracket at Guatemala begins on Friday

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, April 8, 2011. – Opening day action at Guatemala’s Gatorade Beach Volleyball Tournament, the second stop of 2011 NORCECA Circuit, features women’s match between Canadians Heather Bansley and Elizabeth Maloney of Canada-1 against Cubans Niriam Sinal and Ion Canet on Friday morning.

The men’s division competition kicks off with Douglas Izaguirre and Manfredo Hernandez of Honduras up against Jeovanny Medrano and David Vargas of El Salvador.

The event includes 17 women’s team and 18 men’s team divided in five pools with the top three pairs advancing to a main bracket for a single elimination play.

Pools were designated by each team´s position in NORCECA’s rankings and those without ranking and countries’ second teams were distributed by a drawing during the technical meeting supervised by the competition’s director, Arnaldo Sanchez.
