Santiago and Yantin show quality and power

BOCA CHICA, Dominican Republic, April 6, 2012 – Puerto Rico’s Yarleen Santiago and Yamileska Yantin were among the combos that won two matches in the pool play competition at the Boca Chica Beach Volleyball Tournament, the third stage of the 2012 NORCECA Circuit.

Playing in Pool B, Santiago/Yantin opened with a 21-13, 21-12 victory over St. Vincent’s Nikita Campbell and Ladonna Woodley before prevailing in a three-set  battle (14-21, 21-19, 15-8) against Costa Rica’s Ingrid Morales and Natalia Alfaro.

Canada’s Jamie Broder and Kristina Valjas, Dominican Republic’s  Diana Peguero and Nairobi Agramonte and Mexico’s Vanessa Virgen and Martha Revuelta also claimed two victories on Friday. Pool play will be completed early Saturday.

Broder/Valjas edged USA’s Kaitlin Sather and Jessica Gysin 2-1 (21-17, 19-21, 15-12) and followed with a 21-16, 21-8 victory over Deborah Constanzo and Karla Montilla of Dominican Republic-1. Peguero/Agramonte started with a 21-15, 21-19 win over El Salvador’s Diana Romero/Marcela Avalos and followed with a crushing victory 21-10, 21-8 over Caitlin Dowd and Valissia Barthwaite of US Virgin Islands. Revuelta/Virgen beat Romero/Avalos 21-14, 21-9 and followed with a 21-8, 21-13 job against Dowd and Barthwaite
