It is Showtime for Dominicans Recio and Adames

BOCA CHICA, Dominican Republic, April 7, 2012 – Dominican Republic’s German Recio and Luis Adames scored two major upsets on their way to the semifinals of the Boca Chica Men’s Beach Volleyball Tournament by Presidente, the third stage of the 2012 NORCECA Circuit.

The Dominican pair first defeated Canada’s Martin Reader and Josh Binstock in three sets (15-21, 21-18, 15-9) and followed with a 21-19, 21-19 triumph over Evan Engle and Stafford Slick of USA.

The others semifinalists via de the winners’ bracket were Puerto Rico-1 team of Erick Haddock and Pablo Guzman who edged compatriots Roberto Rodriguez and Orlando Irizarry of Puerto Rico-2 in three sets (21-14, 17-21, 15-11).

Rodriguez/Irizarry and Reader/Binstock completed the semifinalists in the double-elimination event via the losers’ bracket.

Rodriguez/Irizarry saw off Guatemala’s Andy Leonardo/Erick Garrido 2-0 (21-19, 21-13) while Reader/Binstock eliminated Engle/Slick following wins over the representatives of Trinidad and Tobago and El Salvador.

In Sunday’s semifinals, Recio and Adames play against Rodriguez and Irizarry while Haddock and Guzman clash with Reader and Binstock at 10:00 a.m. local time.
