Bonaire steals a set from El Salvador who remains unbeaten

PANAMA CITY, Panama, August 18, 2012. - El Salvador remains unbeaten but not without giving a set away to Bonaire for a final score of 3-1 (25-5, 25-10, 25-27, 25-12) as actions continued at the First Round Women’s 2014 World Championship Qualification Group G.

As in last night’s match against Panama, Bonaire pressed El Salvador but this time they earned their first set in a NORCECA tournament, forcing the winners to re structure their strategy for their second win.

Adriana Flores topped El Salvador scoring 16 points, Gabriela Martinez and Maria Jose Galeano chipped in with 14 points each. For Bonaire, Lu-Allen Sint Jago was the best scorer with 9 points followed by Juliette Cicilia with 8.

“Lack of concentration and communication was the cause of our many mistakes, when they began to press our response should have been more effective, but in the end we were able to find our way to the victory” expressed Adriana Flores captain of El Salvador.

Claudette Arneman for Bonaire commented “there are things we must improve so we’re able to have a good match from the start and not until the third set”.

Coach Gabriel Linares of El Salvador indicated “first I want to congratulate Bonaire because they did things with desire and they are warriors; I insisted that our service had to be flawless because I knew that we couldn’t take any chances but our mistakes gave them the set and as they grew things got complicated.”

“Just like yesterday, the team was nervous, we don’t play as a team yet but we’ve been practicing together only for six months, so I am very satisfied with the outcome. If just our pass were better things can change for us” said Leo Richarson Bonaire’s Coach.
