Beach Volleyball Centre to be installed in Costa Rica
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, March 21, 2013 - The National Federation
of Costa Rica and the Cantonal Sports and Recreation Committee
of San Jose signed an agreement to authorize the installation of
a beach volleyball development center in the sport complex
located in Hatillo, recently used for the competitions of the
Central American Games.
The facilities will be used for the training of the national
teams of different levels and to host national, regional and
international beach volleyball competitions as well as courses
to develop national and regional coaches and referees.
The agreement was signed by Jose Luis Jimenez and Heiner Ugalde
Fallas, presidents of the national federation and the committee
respectively, in the presence of William Corrales, minister of
sports of Costa Rica, Marta Centeno de Sajche, President of
AFECAVOL, and Nelson Ramirez, general manager of NORCECA, who
represented Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, FIVB First Executive Vice
President and NORCECA President.
“In Hatillo, our beach volleyball players will benefit of an
adequate infrastructure for their preparation to participate in
the annual Central American competitions, the NORCECA Circuit
and the qualification rounds of the current Olympic cycle,”
Jimenez said at the end of the signing ceremony.
“The Olympic cycle includes the 2014 Central American and
Caribbean Games in Veracruz, Mexico, the 2015 Pan American Games
in Toronto, Canada, and the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de
Janeiro, Brazil,” he added. “In addition we have the
qualification tournaments to the age-group world championships
organized by FIVB and the process towards the Youth Olympic
Games in Nanjing, China.”
Jimenez stressed on the new initiatives of cooperation from the
FIVB and the permanent support offered by NORCECA Confederation
to assist the participation of Costa Rica in the different
international high-level competitions of beach volleyball and
volleyball. |
