Brayelin Martínez in All-Star of South American Club Tournament
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, February 28, 2020 - The name
of Brayelin Martínez continues to rise in the international
women's volleyball scene wearing both the flannel of the
Dominican Republic team and the professional clubs in which she
has played in her young and promising career.
The towering athlete of 6-6 heigh has just been elected as the
Best Opposite in the South American Club Championship held in
Uberlandia, Brazil in which her Praia Clube finished in second
place.
Praia Clube achieved 3-0 victories over Bolivian Catholic
University (25-10, 25-7, 25-8) and San Lorenzo of Argentina 3-0
(25-15, 25-9, 25-14) and 3-2 against Boca Juniors (25-18, 26-24,
21-25, 22-25, 15-11).
They lost the decisive match against Itambé Minas, the rival
Brazilian club within the same state, 3-0 (25-22, 27-25, 25-16).
It was the seventh contest of the season between the two clubs
of Minas Gerais and just the second win for Itambé, with the
first in the 2019 FIVB Club World Championship in Shaoxing,
China.
The two-time Olympuan Thaisa Menezes with the Brazilian squad,
was elected as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
The Dream Team of the tournament was formed as follows:
Setter: Macris Carneiro (Itambé Minas), Opposite: Brayelin
Martínez (Dentil Praia Clube), Outside Hitters: Dobriana
Rabadzhieva (Itambé Minas) and Daniela Bulaich (San Lorenzo),
Middle Blockers: Carol Gattaz (Itambé Minas) and Ana Carolina da
Silva (Dentil Praia Clube) and Libero Léia Nicolosi (Itambé
Minas).
Club San Lorenzo of Argentina finished in third position in
Uberlandia with two victories in its four outings. |
