Canada and USA to play for bronze at World League

CURTIBA, Brazil, July 7, 2017 – Canada will play United States for the bronze medal of FIVB World League following defeats to France and Brazil, respectively, on Friday night.

France advanced to the gold medal match after defeating Canada 3-1 (25-19, 22-25, 25-19, 25-21). Hosts Brazil defeated United States 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 25-20, 25-19).
 
French superstar Earvin Ngapeth was in top form with a 24-point game, including four aces, sending his team to the final match against Brazil tomorrow. Canada's captain, Gordon Perrin, was the team’s top scorer, with 15 points, followed by Sharone Vernon-Evans and Graham Vigrass with 14 each.

Wallace De Souza and Lucas Saatkamp led Braziil with 18 and 13 points, respectively.

Behind Wallace and Lucas, wing-spiker Mauricio Silva was highly efficient and contributed with 12 points. However, the game’s top scorer was in USA side was Taylor Sander who collected 20 points, but those weren’t enough for the upset. Thomas Jaeschke added 12 for the losing side.
