Canadian Men to meet in Boca Chica semifinals

BOCA CHICA, Dominican Republic, October 6, 2018 – Teams of Canada will face each other in the men’s semifinals of the Boca Chica Beach Volleyball Tournament on Sunday morning.

Top-seeded Ben Saxton and Grant O’Gorman will be pitted against fellow Canadians and second-seeded Sam Pedlow and Sam Schachter in the final four round of the competition.

The other semifinal will present the match between Mexicans Josué Gaxiola and José Luis Rubio and William Allen and Ryan Doherty.

Saxton and O’ Gorman survived a tough quarterfinal battle against Guatemala’s Andy Leonardo and Luis García winning 2-1 (21-15, 19-21, 15-10) in 48 minutes.

Pedlow and Schachter eliminated Erick Zaun and Avery Drost of United States 2-0 (21-15, 21-17) in 37 minutes.

Gaxiola and Rubio knocked out Nicaragua’s Rubén Mora and Dany Lopez 2-0 (21-12, 21-17), while Allen and Doherty just needed 29 minutes to finish Cubans Karell Peña and Luis Enrique Reyes by scores of 2-0 (21-19, 21-17).
