Caribeñas New Horizons lead with 2-0

 

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, March 3, 2019 – Defending champions Caribeñas New Horizons claimed their second victory in as many outings with a 3-1 (25-18, 25-23, 23-25, 25-14) decision over Guerreras in the second match of a doubleheader of the Dominican Women’s Superior League on Sunday. Guerreras are winless in the young competition.

 

Erasma Moreno once again topped Caribeñas with 22 points followed by Annerys Vargas and Vielka Peralta each with 16 points and Candida Arias with 14. Dahiana Burgos had 16 for Guerreras while Priscila Rivera and Jeoselyna Rodriguez added 15 and 10, respectively, in the loss.

 

Earlier on Sunday, Madeline Guillen scored 20 points as Cristo Rey defeated Mirador 3-0 (30-28, 25-22, 25-23). Both teams have 1-1 wn-loss records.

 

Marifranchi Rodriguez added 14 points, including 6 blocks, in the victory while Gina Mambru chipped in with 13, including five aces. Natalia Martinez led Mirador with 15 points while Flormarie Heredia and Yanlis Feliz had 12 and 11, respectively.
