Chile sweated with Guatemala
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 1, 2018 - Although they
gave up a set against Guatemala, who put up resistance, the
Chilean team improved their mark in 2-1 with a victory of 25-23,
18-25, 25-16 and 25 -20 in an extremely close first-round match
in the first two and fourth sets, as well as in the middle of
the third, something surprising, because such combativeness of
the Central Americans was not expected before a cast that had
defeated 3-1 on Saturday to the selective Dominican.
Guatemala won its only set in three matches, including the
advantage in the two technical stops (8-7 and 16-14), in a very
even second set, and unbalanced with a 5-0 rally that helped it
to take advantage by 24-17, at a time when everything was in
favor, both in defense of the net and the floor, attacks and
services, with performances by Jeyson Nery, Brandon Chinchilla
and Leonel Aragón López.
The middle blocker Simón Guerra with 15 points was the top
scorer for Chile, the starters, captain Dusan Bonacic 14, Matías
Parraguirre 13, the opposite Tomás Parraguirre 12, Esteban
Villarreal eight and Tomás Gago five. For Guatemala, the
talented Jeyson Nery was the best of the match with 23 points,
Wanger Chacón 12, Carlos López and Brandon Chinchilla eight,
Antonio Aragón five. |
